~Two Weeks Later~
I hurry out of the kitchen with the plates I was supposed to be delivering. It was almost time for my break. I go to the table and set the plates down in front of the people. "Kahasamnida, Enjoy!" I say and walk back towards the back. I pick up a few dirty plates from an empty table. I take them to the back and put them in the sink. I look at the time and then out at the people. We don't get to go on break until everyone is done and have left. Then we close for an hour or two. It just depends. There are only 3 customers still here. I lean back against the wall. I take my phone out.Me: They're aren't many people here right now.
Jin: I have a surprise for you. Actually 2.
Me: Jinja?
Jin: Ne. But I can't let you know until I give them to you.
Me: Aww, But Oppa...
Jin: Ani. It's a surprise. It would be ruined if I told you what it was.
Me: 😂 I have to go now. Saranghae.
Jin: Saranghae!
"SuJin. Can you start washing the dishes?" Ms. Yin asks. I nod. "Ne. Ajumma." I say and put my phone back in my pocket. I roll up my sleeves and start to wash them. I watch the time closely.
After a while The customers finally leave. "Finally." I say quietly. I take my apron off and set it to the side. I go out to the door and turn the sign to 'Closed' I lock the door and close the blinds so they can't see inside. I sit in one of the booths.Me: It's finally break time.
Jimin: I'm in the store across the street. Be there in a minute.
Me: Okay.During break times Jimin has been coming in and I've been teaching him Chinese. After a little while we usually just end up talking about random things. But at least he's learning something. I sit my phone on the table beside me. I've also been teaching Hoseok a little bit because he just appears and stays for a while. Sometimes Jin and the others come too. But Jimin is the only one that comes all the time. He knocks on the door. I stand up and walk over to it. I open it and let him in. He smiles brightly. I smile. "Sit down somewhere." I say. He nods and walks to a booth and sits in it. I sit in the same one but on the opposite side. He sits the notebook I gave him in the middle of the table. "Okay, So we've already finished learning most of the greetings...." I say opening the notebook. I turn through the pages and get to a blank page. "Write all of them again." I say. He nods and takes the pencil. He starts writing them. I watch as he does so.
~Little While Later~"Ani. It goes the opposite way." I say. He erases it and then fixes it. "Okay. I'm done!" He says as he finishes the last one. I nod and turn the notebook around so I can read it. I read through them. I nod. "Good Job. You learn really fast." I say. He smiles. "I'm only learning fast because Your a great teacher." He says. I smile a little bit. "Alright. Now, For the phrases..." I say. He nods a little bit. "First of all. Please." I say. I write in down in the Chinese characters. Then in a better way for him to understand. I turn it around. "Try pronouncing it first." I say. He nods and looks at it for a minute. "Qi-Qǐng?" He asks. I nod. "Ne. A few more times." I say. He nods and keeps repeating it to himself. I smile and listen to make sure he doesn't say it wrong. After a while I stop him. "Okay. Now write it." I say. He nods and starts writing it in the Chinese characters the best he can.
Ms. Yin walks up to the table. "How's it going?" She asks him. He looks up at her. "He's getting better everyday." I say. She smiles and goes off to wipe off the tables. He looks over at me. "Am I really?" He asks. I nod. "Ne." I say. He smiles and goes back to writing. I smile and watch him. He slowly finishes writing it for the first time. "Again?" He asks. I nod. He starts writing it again. I watch closely. He continues to write it. "You can stop when your hand starts hurting." I say. He nods. It may seem a little harsh to make him keep writing until his hands hurt. But it's how I was taught. And I can write, read, and understand Chinese Perfectly. He keeps writing.
He puts the pencil down. "Okay, I'm done." He says. He's written it about 25 times already. I smile. "Good job." I say. He smiles widely. "This is fun." he says. I nod. "It's fun teaching you." I say. "Jinja?" He asks. "Ne! Of course. Your fun to hang out with. The atmosphere changes when your here." I say. "Is..... That a good thing?" He asks a bit confused. I giggle. "Ne. It's good." He smiles. "So, do you like your new job?" He asks. I nod. "I love it. I'm not overworked, I get paid what I earn, and I get days off every weekend. It's perfect." I say happily. He smiles. "I'm glad your happy." He says. "I heard that the Café you worked at might be getting shut down." He says. "Jinjjayo?" I ask. He nods. "Ne." He says. I smile. "That man deserves it." I say. He laughs. "He really does." I look at the time. He smiles. "I have to go back to work in a few minutes...." I say. He sighs. "Okay. "Well, I'll go ahead and go." He says standing up. I smile and stand up too. "Annyeong!" I say smiling at him. He smiles and we both turn around. I turn towards the kitchen and he turns towards the door. "Hey, Su-Jin?" He asks. I stop and turn back around.
"What?" I ask. "Will you.... Go on a date with me? Just one! And If you don't like it. You don't have to go on another one. I promise." He says. I look at him. I stare at him for about a minute before answering. I take a deep breath.
"Okay.... But Just one." I say.
