Pamela's P.O.V.
It was about eight o' clock in the evening when I heard the bell ringing downstairs. Both Amanda and Lola were late for about an hour but I knew I hadn't got to be a bitch with them regarding punctuality. They were dealing with some stuff lately I cared about more. Besides, one of us quit not so long ago, so now we were only us three carrying the weight of the whole matter and it required a lot of hard work. However, I knew deep inside of me, that this plan was about to end up as I imagined. In a complete success.
I took my laptop and headed downstairs where my friends were surely about to come inside. The butler was opening the door when I reached the hall and, as soon as I saw their faces, I realized they were tired as hell.
'Hey Mandy, no offense, but you should put some make up on! I mean, look at your eye bags!' I said as soon as I joined them 'And don't get me started about your hair, Lola. You're a mess, guys... Seriously, remember we have to be as disguised as possible. No one has to know what we're up to.'
'Yeah, Pammy. I know but...' Amanda complaint in a low voice.
'... since the slut has left our crew, we two have to deal with almost everything!' Lola was being more aggressive, but her head was down and her eyes were looking directly at the rug.
<<Coward...>>
'Have you said "we two"?' I said furious as I put my hand on Lola's shoulder, pushing her to make eye contact with me 'I have the hardest role in this entire matter. Don't you even remember why we are doing this?'
'I do, Pam. Sorry.' Lola said shortly as Amanda nodded from the back.
<<She's afraid of me. Amanda too.>> I thought as we headed the living room in complete silence. One part of me was feeling bad about them. I mean, they were my best friends. But for some reason, in that same moment, I just wanted to carry on with the plan. My plan.
'Any news about Liam? Had he changed his mind?' Amanda asked as she sat down in one of the armchairs.
'Yesterday I passed through his house and I waved goodbye to him! He was about to run or something.' Lola added as she settled in the couch.
'Well, he's still coming to Malibu with us. I'll pick him up in order to go to the airport along.'
'Nice! I like him. He's a sweet boy after all.' Amanda grinned while saying this kind words.
'Yeah, but don't lose focus...' I said in a firm tone while opening my laptop. This girls are as useful as dangerous. Their dumb kindness was threatening my whole plan.
'We are not giving up, Pam. I mean, we are together in this!' Lola was still scared to contradict me.
'Okay. Even though the lizard is heading to California with us, we have to face a little difficulty. For not to say huge issue.' I announced as I was logging in into my e-mail account.
'Oh, jeez! What's going on now?' Amanda sounded terrified.
'Relax. I think we can handle them.'
'Them? Who else is coming?' Lola asked intrigued as she squeezed nervously the cushion.
'My mother called me yesterday from work in order to tell me the not-so-great news. You'll see, that villa in Malibu belonged to my mother's parents. So, naturally, now is not only ours but my auntie Grace's as well.'
'Are you telling us Harold is coming?' Amanda was shocked by the idea of The Pug coming.
<<At least, she can use the head sometimes.>>
'Not only my beloved cousin is coming to the house the whole fortnight, but he will bring his slutty girlfriend with him.' I said displeased as I looked for an e-mail address among my contacts.
'No way. They will ruin everything! We're so fucking pissed!' Lola yelled as she stood up with her hand in her forehead.
'Maybe, we can use them in our favor. We will kill two birds with one single shot. Not only we can get what we want but also destroy that bitch Helen as a whore she is.'
<<Amanda is still in love with Harold... She's so obvious about that.>>
'Yeah, we can do something regarding her... and yet use my cousin for the matter. Well thought, Mandy.' I congratulated Amanda as I saw Lola gazing jealously at her.
'What are you looking for, Pammy?' Lola asked as she saw me scrolling.
'Gerald's e-mail address. I know I have it somewhere. I lost his number and he isn't on Facebook or at any social network nor app. A bit old schooled...'
'Why do you want to contact the party monster itself? Are we having a rave soon?' Amanda seemed both scared and thrilled.
'Yeah. I think he will be really useful to us. Not only because a great party at his house is neutral territory, but also we need some extra ingredients to make our plan successful.'
'Oh...' Lola's eyes showed how terrified she was with my idea 'Are you saying... you're asking him to get us drugs?'
'Shhhh! Lower your voice, dumb!' I reprimanded Lola in a angry but whispered voice, pointing at her with my index finger 'We need to be fierce and use every single resource we have in order get that fucking photograph before everyone's leaving town for college.'
'But Pammy...'
<<I'm over this. I have to interfere.>> I thought as I closed my laptop and put it aside. Although Lola was being a pain in the ass lately, I couldn't afford losing another one of us right now. Not only she knew too much but also gossip was her thing. She would spread the truth of my issue in a matter of seconds and my whole reputation will be destroyed. I still needed to be Pamela Reed, known as The Queen, the most popular girl in town.
'Do you guys remember about our oath?' I said solemnly looking to both of them. I needed to scared them both to hell in order not to open their stupid mouths.
'Yeah but it was held while she was still with us...' Amanda said concerned.
'... and she's being so slippery nowadays. It's almost impossible to silence her...' Lola was even more preoccupied.
<< She was so smart and thoughtful. Such a pity.>>
'Remember we're working on that matter too.' I made a pause in order to continue speaking portentously 'I think that, due to this circumstances, we need to make a new one. To strengthen our friendship and commitment with the cause.'
'I don't know...' Lola said in a soft voice.
'Come on, Lolly. It will be fun. Remember us three will be applying to our mother's former sorority house the next semester. It's kind of practice.' Amanda encouraged her as I asked the butler to lit three of the four candles that were standing firmly in the chandelier next to us.
'But it seems to be some kind of sorcery. It was so scary last time... Does it work?'
'Yeah! I've read it once in Cosmopolitan that this rituals are essential in most of the strongest friendships.'
'This is to reaffirm our bonds. You have to be focused and commit to the matter.' I tried to convince her and I thought I did it successfully as I saw her smiling timidly.
So Amanda took the chandelier and set it on the floor as I turned off the lights. Our faces looked blurry and shadowy as we were only illuminated by the timid flames. We took by our hands as we sat on the carpet, making some kind of round around the candles.
'We, Amanda Firestone, Lola Rodriguez and Pamela Reed, are here reunited in order to strengthen our friendship and commit once more to our goals. The sisterhood cannot be broken. If one's tear apart, the rest will take revenge in her name because...' I said in a quiet but firm voice with my eyes closed.
<< I need it to work this time. To keep our secrets within ourselves.>>
'... we bring the storm upon our enemies.' Both Amanda and Lola said in unisone.
'...we bring the storm upon our enemies.' I repeated in a whisper as I opened my eyes to watch the flames.
<<You'll pay, asshole. For everything you've done to me.>>
