Chapter 30

Exams and Dates

Alan started coming to school the next week. When he arrived I saw Blaine immediately rush over to him and start to fuss. I saw Alan crack the first grin in a week and he intwined his fingers with the blondes before heading over to me and Tony. "Hey Alan!" I said and smiled, Tony beamed too and we headed for class. Alan and Blaine got a few strange stares but they both ignored it. I was impressed with Alan.

At lunch we had gone over Alan's predicament and had moved onto Tony. You see, the Scotsman was head over heels for a certain girl. When I say head over heels I mean literally, he actually fell and did a weird summersault when she had smiled at him in the hall. This girls name was Chrisantha Rose. Yup that's right, Ryan and Elli's friend. But Tony was too nervous to ask her to the grad dance. Even though she was a year younger, if an older student asked a younger student it was fine. So there we were, sitting at a table, pestering Tony to ask her out. "I'll do it later" he muttered and stared down at his sandwich. Me and Alan exchanged looks and both nodded slightly. We didn't want to be too pushy.

Tony and I were walking down the hall to leave school when I noticed that Chrissy was walking in front of us. "Tony look!" I hissed at him and he looked over at her "Do it now!" I said quietly and he shook his head. I sighed and pulled out a piece of paper, scribbled something on it, balled it up and threw it at her. It hit its mark and she whirled around before picking it up. She un-crumpled it and read what I had wrote before looking over at us. I pointed at Tony, who was standing stalk still as she smiled and nodded before moving on. "There you go." I said as we kept walking, Tony mouth slightly hanging open as we did so "I got you a date" and I laughed as he cracked a grin. "You wanna hang at the office for a bit?" I asked him when we started down the street "Sure" he said and phoned his dad, asking for permission. When he hung up he nodded and we raced each other to Yogtowers.

We were almost there when I tripped and got flung forwards. I didn't hurt myself but my glasses flew off my face and smashed onto the pavement. "Shit!" I said and scrambled over to them. They were beyond repair. "That sucks, mate" Tony said and I shoved them into my bag and picked myself off the ground "It's fine" I said "I think I've got some contacts in my office just in case. Tony helped me not slam into things as we walked the last block to the office. "Here we are" I said as I fished my contacts out of a drawer "Just where I thought they'd be. That's a first" I chuckled and proceeded to the bathroom to put them in.

After I had done so I informed Dad and he said we could get a new pair next week, until them I'd have to wear contacts, something I wasn't exactly thrilled about. For an hour or so Tony and I played Battlefield 4 and we even got Mickey in on it too. Than Tony asked me a question. "What are you doing for the dance? With EJ being in America." "I don't know" I said "Maybe go stag or something" "I know what you should do" Mickey said "You should fly over there and surprise her." I thought about his idea "That'd be interesting" I said "But I don't know...the ticket on the plane and the timezones. I don't know" "C'mon" Tony said "Just ask your dad. He's a cool guy. I'm sure he'll let you" Mickey agreed over vent and I thought for a moment before answering. "I suppose...i'll ask them later" I said and Tony smiled "Brilliant" Mickey said and we kept on playing.

"Mum?" I said as we entered the flat "Yeah?" She said and turned to face me "I was thinking...since the dance is coming up on Friday and EJ's in DC...I was wondering if I could maybe go over there and surprise her...." I trailed off at the end and she contemplated my idea. I was worrying about her reaction before she smiled and nodded "I think that's a great idea, really sweet" and she gave me a one armed hug "I'll go talk to your dad" she said and went to their room. I sat down on the couch and strained my ears to hear the conversation. "I don't know, Hannah, it's a lot of hassle" Dad said "Lewis" Mum started "Would you do the same for me?" He took awhile to answer but when he did it was in a defeated voice "Of course I would" "Then why not let your son go and surprise the person he loves. Okay?" Mum said "Okay." He said and they both came out into the living room.

We spent the rest if the night preparing for Friday. I was flying out at 9:00 at night and when I got there it would be around six. Luckily EJ's last show of the school musical was the same day so I would be there in time to see that at 7:30pm. Mum helped me book the hotel as Dad tried and failed to make dinner. In the end Mum made pancakes and we had breakfast for dinner. Who doesn't like that!

Exam time at school and I was stressed. Not about Science or Math because I'd finished those ones already, but for History. It wasn't my best subject. I was sweating in the hot history classroom and kept glancing at the clock. I tapped the end of my pencil against the desk and looked over at Alan who was sitting a few rows behind, he smiled and gave me the thumbs up and I gave a small smile back. I looked up when the teacher said my name and breathed a sigh of relief when he told me I could go. I quickly packed my bag and headed outside into the hall. I waited a few moments before Alan appeared next to me and we left down the corridor. "So, last exam. What are you going to do?" He asked me "Well, pack, play video games to procrastinate packing, finish packing than I think the office is playing Werewolf again so that'll be fun" I said "You?" "Blaine and I are going to the movies. Then maybe have some food." He said "Sounds fun" I said and smiled as we parted ways.

Second to last chapter. I hope you liked it!
