CHAPTER 4
GIRLS LIKE ME
Drew hated naturally skinny girls.
She hated them because she felt like they never worked for the body they had, that they didn't deserve their slim waists and small wrists when she worked extremely hard for the body she had. She knew it was unfair and it didn't make sense to hate on something people were born with but the envy grew in her like a wild plant. She eyed Gwen's skinny stature in envious jealousy as she stood in her underwear in Drew's bedroom, laughing along with Kaia and Therese as they threw their clothes out onto Drew's bed and decide who should wear what so they didn't have to wear the same outfit to Larry's party.
Drew stared down at her own body.
Drew was pretty. She knew she was pretty. People definitely know she was the girl who was pretty and knew that fact as well. Sometimes, Drew feared that her only talent was being pretty.
She had that type of aggressive, sharp beauty you would see in sex symbols; a Marilyn Monroe type of irresistibility, except more exotic. If you were to glance at her for a second, you'll be forever tempted to look at her for more than a second. She had long silky coffee coloured hair with shades of bleached blonde highlights, dark brown almond eyes and creamy skin she spent through constant spa treatments. She was popular and loud, bitchy and vain but she had her moments where she could be sweet. She was the kind of person who made you feel drunk just by being around her like suddenly the world's edges were dulled and all of the colours were spinning together.
However, there was also something undoubtedly wrong with Drew.
"Drew, come on!" Therese laughed as she grabbed Drew's hand, "Why are you sitting in the corner, pouting?"
"I'm not," Drew rolled her eyes. Drew stood up and surveyed the outfit Therese had borrowed from her closet- a lace-up top that exposed Therese's ample cleavage, pushed up by a La Senza's purple bra, and a pair of designer Dior jeans that fit Therese's snug hips. "Nice top by the way. As I recalled, it's mine."
Therese smirked, "What? It's cute."
"I know," Drew couldn't resist a smile, "It looks good on you. You should keep it. My boobs aren't right for it."
"Seriously?" The disbelief in Therese's tone almost made Drew laughed. A lot of people always characterised her as the one-dimensional cheerleader, who was just a plain horrid bitch to everybody. Well, she was a bitch but she had her moments of genuine kindness. Honestly.
"Yeah. Why not?"
"Drew, you want me to do your makeup?" Gwen piped up when she was finally done, standing up from the fur seat by Drew's vanity table. She had a plate in a hand, nibbling on a Chinese egg roll. By Drew's dresser was a heaping bag full of Chinese takeout they ordered just an hour ago. While Therese, Gwen and Kaia had stuffed themselves full with ten eggrolls each and split the fried rice, Drew hadn't touched anything under the excuse of having a 'heavy lunch' when in reality, she only had a watercress salad where she picked out the cheese and threw out the dressing.
