CHAPTER 7

MEMORIES AND OH-NOS!

Rachel felt sick.

She felt like throwing up and sneezing at the same time but she shook it off and plastered a smile. "I'm fine, guys. We don't need to go to the hospital. Seriously."

"Shut the fuck up, Dare," Thalia snarled, her knuckles white and tight over the steering wheel; Thalia was livid, her face ashen with pure anger and fury at the thought that somebody could do that to a person, a female, much less one of her best friends. In the rearview mirror, Thalia appeared almost divine with her electric blue eyes sparkling with the wrath of ten thousand Gods. "We're going to a hospital. You were r-"

"No, no," Rachel shook her head. She refused to believe it. She couldn't be...she didn't even know what happened. So how could people come to that conclusion? She swallowed thickly and put her face down on her hands."Thals, I don't even...know what happened."

"Yes you do," Thalia replied ferociously, "You woke up in a bedroom you don't know, naked with your legs hurting. And you don't remember anything. What does that equate to? R-"

"We don't know that," Rachel defended hastily, "Okay? I was really drunk. I could've just passed out...or..."

"Rach," Annabeth nudged softly, her hand brushing against Rachel's elbow. "This is serious. You can't just say you woke up somewhere you didn't know without your clothes and hope to forget it. You need to get checked up. It's better to go to the hospital and realize that nothing happened then to ignore it when something did happen. Please, do it for...do it for yourself. We're just worried."

"You don't understand." Rachel let out a thick exhale, lifting her face from her hands. "My dad will kill me. Something like this will just...it won't go well. I'm fine, honestly. We don't need to go to a hospital."

A few minutes of quiet, awkward conversation broken by the quiet static of conversation occurring on the radio station, and then punctuated by Piper Mclean, despite only knowing Rachel for a day and a half, regarded Rachel with concern. "Are you sure?"

"Positive," Rachel cracked a smile, forcing her muscles to twist. "Anyway, can we...just go get some food? I'm starving."

Drew Tanaka slumped into the comfortable leather seats of her brand new Lincoln, a present from her generous Japanese father, Mr Hiro Tanaka- the man behind one of the richest Japanese Tech companies in the world.

As she whipped out her compact mirror to make sure her Dior lipstick has not smudged, she watched Piper Mclean scrolling through her Instagram feed from the corner of the eye. Much to her annoyance, her mother had forced her to 'invite' Piper into her brand new Lincoln and 'take care' of her when they were in New York, since Aphrodite had wanted to stay a few more days in the Hamptons to have some 'alone time' with her newest boy-toy, Ares (YUCK), so both Piper and Drew got the short straw by being near each other in the same vehicle on the right back into the city and now thanks to her mother, she was stuck 'babysitting' her new half-sister.
