It's the day before the first task. I go up to breakfast with bleary eyes, still not feeling well-rested. The Hall is loud, louder than normal. They're probably excited about the task tomorrow.

"Ashlyn! Hey, Ashlyn!" I hear someone calling my name. I rub my eyes and look at the Slytherin table. Sitting there is no less than the Irish National Quidditch Team! I walk over and sit by Moran.

"So, Quidditch match after dinner?" I ask.

"Why not?" she replies.

The rest of the day during classes, I am bored out of my mind. Waiting for dinner. When it finally comes, I've found everyone I want on my team, and told them. They all accepted.

Dinner is delicious, as always, but I don't try to eat much. I want to be prepared. When I finish eating, I race Moran to the Quidditch fields. Moran beats me, and as she arrives, she stops in her tracks. I catch up to her and see that the Quidditch Fields are covered in tall dark grass.

"We can't play," Moran tells me. "This ruins the flying space."

"I bet we can still-" I begin.

"Yeh can' play on the field!" Hagrid is jogging, very slowly, towards us. When he reaches us he repeats what he said. "Yeh can' play on the field."

"Are you kidding me?" I ask. "What's this for?"

"Third task," he says. "But yeh can' play on the field."

"Ugh, great," I say. "Our one chance to play with the best Quidditch team in the world."

"Cheer up, we would have beaten you anyway," Moran says. "Besides, we can still watch the first task together. Get some rest. We'll see you tomorrow." She gestures to the rest of the team, and they head off down the path to Hogsmeade.

We go back up to the castle and down to the dungeons. Everyone is pretty bummed out, but at least the first task is tomorrow. I go to sleep pretty quickly.
