The guys were playing at the local pub that night. The five of them were in a band called  Asking Alexandria in which Danny sang, Ben and Cameron played guitar, James played the drums, and Sam played bass. (He had also been teaching me how to play some of the bass lines for a few of their songs.) Not very much had happened since that first day when Sam kissed me. We’d kiss a few times since then, and the rest of the guys clearly saw that he’d already called “dibs” on me. Ben had said it was a good thing since the last girl Sam had dated broke his heart by cheating on him and lying about a bunch of things. I was a junior, and all the guys were seniors besides Sam and Ben, who were both juniors like me. Apparently Ben was already supposed to be a senior, but he’d failed the 8th grade. Oh well.

I couldn’t wait to see the guys play- I’d only seen them practice at Danny’s a few times. They were pretty good, too. the kind of music I liked to listen too, with heavy guitars and screamo, awesome metalcore you could really head bang to. I was glad there was something here to be excited about- the guys were shaping out to be really good friends, and Sam? he was shaping out to be more than that.

A crowd had packed into the little Pub on 4th that night. I stood right in the front by the small stage that had been set up not too long ago. The guys set up and got right to it.

“How are you guys tonight? We are Asking Alexandria, and we’re here to rock your fuckin’ night.” Danny announced. Sam blew me a kiss from onstage and I grinned and sent one back.

Their first song was “Not The American Average”  and they finished their set with “A Prophecy.” I do have to say, they were pretty damn good. Sam met up with me later and we drank virgin Shirley Temples at the bar since I’m only 16 and he’s 17- he drinks anyways but its obviously not legal yet, and we talked about the show, and about life, and before we knew it, it was 2 in the morning and he drove me home.

My parents are the type that don’t really mind what I do, so I changed my clothes, grabbed a bag, and headed two doors down for the night.

We laid in his bed, staring up through the skylight above his bed.

“You know Hanna, I’ve been thinking lately, about us I mean. And I’ve come to the conclusion that I would like to take you out on a date. I promise it won’t be boring.” He glanced at me. “Sure- I didn’t think it would be boring. What are we gonna see?”

He chuckled. “Not a movie. I have something better in mind. Do you trust me?”

“Of course, but what is it?” I asked curiously.

He smirked. “You’ll just have to wait and see.”
