Danny’s POV
Hanna’s been gone three years. The song about her Someone, Somewhere, was a pretty big hit. Every fan seemed to relate in one way or another. I hadn’t heard from her since she left me the note. No calls, texts, e mails, she didn’t even come to any shows.
All the guys seemed to have forgotten her; she was a thing of the past. James had been horrified when she left, but it has subsided to anger when he realized that she wasn’t coming back. Sam seemed to have forgotten, but wasn’t ever the same. He’d been flung into a deep depression that contributed to the other songs on our second album, Reckless & Relentless. It was basically a catalogue of self destruction. This had been our lives, getting drunk, banging groupies, living fast and partying hard.
But I never forgot Hanna- if I ever saw her again, I just might lose it. I’m not sure if I could keep it together. It had been a painful cut for all of us when she’d left- and returning seemed as if it would just re-open the old wounds.
At the same time, I wanted to see her, just to make sure she was alive and well, and to see cute little Evie, who was probably three or four. Gosh, Hanna had to be twenty already. The thought scared me- she wouldn’t be a girl when I saw her again. She’d be a woman, probably married. Maybe even have another kid.
I thought of all this as I stepped out onto the stage in Memphis where Hanna had once sang with the band to “Not the American Average” for Ben’s part because of his sore throat.
I took a deep breath as I searched the crowd. Nothing.
We opened up with a song called “Dear Insanity” from our second album. Sam definitely looked pissed, because like me, he remembered where we were. James pounded on his drums twice as hard as usual, and he too remembered. Ben and Cameron were completely focused, the fucking best guitarists ever, while the rest of us flew on autopilot through half the set.
Then I saw her, during “Morte Et Dabo” I crossed the stage to get a better view. Neither Sam, nor James had noticed her. At least, I think it was her. Same dark blue hair, and big beautiful eyes.
I was about to take a huge leap of faith, but I had to say it.
“Will Hanna Ludwig please come onstage? Hanna, three years ago you sang with us here on this very same stage. This song is for you, and I want everyone to see your beautiful face.”
She looked bewildered but climbed onto the stage.
“This song is Someone, Somewhere.”
We began the song, and I watched her carefully. She mumbled the lyrics with me, and kind of blushed under the flickering stage lights. By the end of the song, she was crying. And so was I. I looked back at Sam and James, who were both looking quite disgusted.
I pulled her in close to me.
“God, Hanna. I missed you so much.” I kissed her their onstage, as half the place cheered and half booed. I smiled through the kiss, and pulled away.
“I missed you, too.” she blushed.
Then I knew I would get my wish- a chance (at least) with the girl of my dreams.
THE END! I hope you guys liked it :D
