Corl POV:
It was morning and I had woken up from a refreshing sleep. I wanted to keep sleeping, but I had things to do. I looked at my phone and it had a notification, I looked closely and it was a reminder for Denis's birthday. I smiled. I had a whole plan for what I was going to do for his birthday. But, I would need to act like I forgot his birthday, so he would be surprised.
I quickly took a shower and put on a red flannel shirt and some black jeans. I needed to get to the store quick for Denis. It felt like a good day and I was excited to celebrate his 21st birthday.
When I was done I put on my glasses and grabbed my keys. When I got outside it was warm for a morning, there was a soft breeze and a perfectly cloudy sky with a bit of blue. It was a beautiful day, a perfect June 5th. I got into my car and drove to my nearest grocery store, parked my car and ran in.
I needed a cake, a card, and maybe something else. I went to the bakery section of the store, I didn't have that much money and I couldn't afford a nice cake from a fancy bakery. But this would do, all the cakes looked really nice. I took a simple chocolate raspberry cake, then I got some candles for the cake.
I then got a simple card, I just wanted one with space to write something meaningful to him. I mean, he was my best friend. I adored him. He deserved the best on his birthday, not a crappy text message.
I was about done and walked up to the cash register with the stuff. But then I saw that La La Land was on DVD, it had come out a while ago, but I for some reason never bought it.(La La Land is now my life thanks to Corl.) I grabbed one and smiled, it was such a great movie. I remembered watching it with Denis in the theater and I cried, and Denis was just in awe of Ryan Gosling of course. It was fun and we could watch it together again.
That's when I had everything and I walked to the cashier. I didn't have that many items and I was in and out of there pretty quick. I carefully put the stuff in my small car and drove to Denis's house, he gave me a key because he actually trusted me that much. I couldn't wait till he got home.
