No Twins Next Door

Chapter 3

Ethan and Grayson walked down to the bar for a late breakfast. They sat down and examined the menu. As they were looking and discussing their order, Lexi walked towards them. They could tell she was hung over.

"Hi, are you ready to order?" She smiled.

"Um.. yeah. Two plates of pancakes please!" Grayson replied. Lexi smiled at them and walked away. He turned to Ethan. "Maybe I can ask Lexi where Mia lives! And then I can visit Mia and try to talk to her!"

"You can try".

When Lexi returned with their order, Grayson asked her, "Lexi? Do you know where Mia Watson lives? We're old friends of hers and we wanted to visit her later today". Lexi smiled at him.

"Sure!" She exclaimed. She wrote down on her notepad. Ripping the paper out the notepad, she gave it to Grayson. He looked down to see she had written an address on the paper. "That's her address. She's usually awake at about 3pm".

"Okay, thanks!" Grayson thanked her before eating his breakfast.

They ate their breakfast/lunch and walked up to their room. They got dressed for the day and went to visit Mia. They walked along the streets of New York. It was a nice day. There weren't much clouds in the sky and the sun was beaming down on the city.

The twins soon arrived at an old apartment building. They walked inside to smell a dusty smell. They walked to the lifts to see a note on both saying: Out of order. They walked to the stairs and climbed to the 4th floor.

They looked around for Mia's apartment door. They were looking at all the doors until they reached 24b. Mia's apartment. The white paint was pealing and the number was wearing away. They knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.

They waited for a while. They knocked again. "I'm coming!" Someone yelled from the other side. The door opened a little; Mia stood between the door and the wall. She looked at them. "How did you know where I live?" She asked, annoyed at them.

"We asked your friend, Lexi" Ethan replied. Mia sighed. "Can we come in?" She opened the door wider so they could enter her apartment. She shut the door when they entered. They looked around at her place.

"Why are you here?" She asked as she walked to the kitchen and made herself a glass of water. They twins didn't reply.

"What's that smell? Have you been smoking joints?!" Grayson asked.

Mia sighed and sat on the couch. "Why are you here?" She asked again.

"We wanted to catch up" Ethan explained. "It's been four years since we last saw our best friend! So," he sat down and looked at her. "What have you been up to over the past four years?!" She looked at him in disbelief. He continued to look at her, waiting for her to reply.

"Oh, you're serious?!" She asked, shocked. Ethan nodded. "Working at the bar".

"For four years?!" Grayson asked.

"Yeah, what's wrong with working at the same job for four years? You two have had the same job since you were like 16! So, five years! And I heard you've got a new job as actors. Do you still do YouTube videos for your fans? Or do you expect them to continue supporting you and watching your work every two years?!"

"I feel like you hate us," Ethan observed.

"Hate is a strong word," Mia admitted. "The right word! But a strong word". Mia looked at the time. "Shit! You two need to leave! I need to get ready for work!" She pushed them out her apartment. She slammed the door on them and walked to her bathroom.

Ethan and Grayson walked back to the hotel. They sat at the bar and waited for Mia to arrive. At 9pm, Mia walked through the doors and went behind the bar. She smiled at everyone as she dished out free drinks. It was free drinks for an hour.

It was 10:30pm when Mia was called by some guy. She smiled as she walked to him. "Hey, Marcus! Who's this?" She asked. Marcus was with a small, skinny blonde girl. The girl smiled at Mia.

"Mia, this is my sister, Macey. Macey, meet Mia," Marcus introduced them. "Macey is getting married next week".

"Oh, congrats!" Mia exclaimed.

"Thanks!"

"Yeah, but her singer cancelled last minute and she hasn't got anyone to sing at her wedding. I was hoping you'd sing for her? I'll pay you! Please!" Marcus begged. Mia thought about it for a while.

"Um... alright, I'll do it".

"Thank you!" Marcus and Macey said as they walked to the bar. As they sat down, Macey saw Ethan and Grayson. "Oh my God! It's the Dolan Twins!" The twins looked up at her and smiled. "Hi, I love your videos and your movies! If it wasn't for you two, I don't think I would be getting married next week! You always said to be ourselves, so I did. My fiancé loves the real me. And that's all thanks to you two!"

Ethan and Grayson smiled at her. "We're glad we encouraged you! Your fiancé is very lucky to be marrying you!"

"Would you like to come to the wedding?" She asked. "My fiancé is also a fan! It would mean the world to us!"

"Sure! It'll be fun! At least we'll have Mia there!"

"You know each other?"

"Yeah, we're friends" Ethan answered.

"Ex-friends" Mia corrected, adding emphasis on the 'ex'. "I don't recall saying I forgive you. And I don't think I ever will. Not after everything you put me through. I hate you both". She then walked up to the stage to sing.

"What happened between you three?"

"It was just a misunderstanding" Grayson replied.

Mia then began to sing a song. Ethan and Grayson felt like the song was aimed at them. The lyrics seemed to be targeting them. Either that, or she really likes the song.
