No Twins Next Door

Chapter 1

Ethan and Grayson walked over to visit Mia. They knocked on the door to be greeted by Mrs Watson. They smiled at her. "Hi, Mrs Watson! Is Mia home?" They asked in unison. Mrs Watson smiled at them.

"No, she's currently trying to get her dream job".

"Oh, do you know when she'll be back?" Grayson asked.

"No, sorry".

"Okay, we'll come back later" Ethan said as he walked away with Grayson. They walked home and played Mario Karts for the rest of the day. At 9pm, they went to see Mia. They knocked on to see Mrs Watson again. "Hi, is Mia back yet?" Ethan asked.

"No" she replied. The twins sighed. "New York is far away. I don't think she'll be back any time soon. But she will be back". The twins were confused. Mrs Watson saw their expressions. "She's gone to New York. Didn't she tell you? She told me she told everyone. I thought you were friends again?"

"I guess not" Grayson said sadly. The twins walked home. They couldn't believe where she was! How far away she is!

New York...

4 years later

The twins were walking along the cobbled streets of New York City. It was late at night and they were looking for a hotel to stay at. They found a hotel and entered the building. They walked to the desk and booked a room. They got their keys and walked into the bar of the hotel.

Mia was standing behind the bar, laughing and talking with her best friend, Lexi. Lexi was just about to go home. "Hey, two hot guys coming in" Lexi said. Mia turned to see two people she wanted to never see again.

She turned to Lexi. "Can you take their order?" She asked. She was desperate to not to speak to them. Lexi looked at her with sad eyes.

"Nope! I'm going home!" She said as she left the bar. Mia turned and walked to the two men who had walked in.

"Hi, what would you like?" She asked with a forced smile. The two men looked at her with a shocked look. She stared at them as if there was nothing wrong.

"Long time no see. How've you been, Mia? It's great to see you!" Ethan said. Mia stopped and stared at them. They were smiling at her. "What are you doing working here?"

"I didn't get my dream job, and I couldn't go back knowing I was a failure. This was the only job I could get. Now! What would you like?!"

"Um... can we get two pints of Carling?" They asked. She nodded her head and made two pints of Carling. She made their order and placed the two glasses in front of them.

Her wrist was grabbed by Grayson. "What on earth is that?! You can't have this!" He exclaimed. She pulled her hand back and glared at him.

"It's a tattoo! And you have no say on what I do with my life! You lost that ability when you believed social media over me! And who are you to judge?! You have tattoos as well!" Mia exclaimed. She took the money and put it in the till.

"Mia! You're up!" A man said. She smiled at him and walked up on stage. She grabbed the microphone and spoke to the audience.

"What's up guys?!" The crowd cheered. "Are you ready for me to sing?!" The crowd cheered again. "Let's begin!"

The music started and she began to sing 'Take A Hint'. She sang and everyone cheered for her. People were cheering her on and some where singing along.

The twins sat and watched as Mia sang. They never knew she could sing. She was amazing! She gave them goosebumps from her vocals. After the song, she placed the microphone on the stand and walked back behind the bar.

Everyone was cheering for her. She came close to the twins when she was cleaning the bar. "How've been these past four years?" Ethan asked. She looked at him. "We've had no contact in four years!"

"I've been great! I have amazing friends! True friends! I have a good job! I have ignored everyone who tries to bring me down! I've had so much fun! I'm glad I left New Jersey. I'm glad I left you!" She replied.

"We're glad you've enjoyed yourself!" Grayson said. "We've been travelling the world on our 4OU world tour. We've met so many fans! It's amazing! Ethan thinks he's found himself a great girlfriend!"

"Oh! Really?! She better be careful! Social media can say some lies! And you might be dumb enough to believe them!" She said then glared at them.

"Mia, we're sorry! We said that four years ago! We kept telling you every day! You said you'd forgive us!" Ethan exclaimed.

"No! I said I might be able to forgive you!" She barked back. She walked away and continued to work. The twins sat at the bar and spoke about Mia. They spoke about how they missed her. When they looked over at her, they saw her smiling. She was laughing as she spoke to the customers.

"She looks happy, for once," Grayson said. "I can't believe I left her. After all the feelings I had for her. Even when we were 15! It crushed my heart reading her tweets. If only we had believed her. Maybe our lives would have turned out differently? This is all my fault".

"No, it's our fault," Ethan corrected. "I didn't believe her either. We had promised her we would be best friends no matter what. But we believed social media over our friendship. We were so hurt that we didn't let her explain. We thought that she hated us. But it was never her".

Grayson pulled his phone out. "Maybe she has Instagram?" He searched her name for her account. They came across her account. They began to stalk her account and look at her pictures. They saw pictures of her tattoos and just selfies of herself. Most pictures are of her performing on stage. They saw how she had changed over the years.

"I wish we could turn back time and change everything," Grayson whispered. "But we can't".
