Alice's POV

It all happened so fast. One moment I was hanging out with friends and the next I was shooting them in the head.

It's crazy how one minor thing can have such a drastic effect and that's what we all learnt the hard way

Cruel and unforgiving is how it went down. People turned into wild animals, the words has corrupted so of course no one was to be civil if civilisation was gone. They rampaged and killed and raped and screamed and burned and broke and fell and sunk.

The first months were the worse. Everyone was just scared and when people are scared they lose themselves. Everyone panicked and went into basic survival mode. They began to kill the ones who weren't infected, shooting them dead in the streets in front of their children and burning buildings to the ground while looting everything they could.

Many people, the smart ones, just ended it for themselves straight away. Jumping of buildings, shooting their brains out, poisoning the family over the table.

Others decided they thought they could beat the apocalypse. Survive it and watch the fall then rise of the world. Idiots. Don't they know the things that they will go though, if the world is restored which is highly unlikely, they won't be the same, they will be destroyed. I dare say the world will ever be restored, it's ended this is the end.

Of course I'm apart of the people who want to try and survive. Not my choice but I can't leave them. I'm not that selfish.

Though bunking together at night I wonder if I'd be able to just shoot them all down with me. But no, I knew I'd never be able to do that. Not even if it was for the great of good.

It was about 6 months in this mess. The world has settled abit. It's not as panic stricken as it use to be, the weak of the weak are gone or roaming and the rest are in hiding.

We were currently hiding out in an Anderson shelter or what ever they are called which we found near an abandoned farm house. It was used in the war, and this was a war. It would protect us for now.

We found stacked with food, blankets, weapons, torches and what not. The outside was splattered with blood so we guess they owners had intentions to use it but must have not returned fast enough and ended up dying.

At least it helped us. We were lucky to have this, god knows how everyone else is surviving.

It was just my family. Being my mother, father and little brother who is 7.

"It's been quite lately" my mothers voice broke the silence. The days in here were quiet. We were all just too scared. Time went slowly yet we never got bored. We were too scared to get bored. We should sit and think of what is to come for us.

"Outside or in" my father replied with as he stretched

"Outside, normally we hear a few gun shots, screams or gargles, but now it seems silence" she whispered and reached her arm around my little brother

"They are moving away" my father started "maybe when we are sure it's quite I'll go and look out, just to check. Maybe even run into that house to find supplies maybe"

My mother nodded and was about to speak before we heart violent banging on the shelter door and a woman screaming

"LET ME IN PLEASE"

We all jumped and looked to my father. My mother nodded and my father went to the door and opened it, a sharp smell of decay came though with the cold and a dirty woman came flying though the door. My father shut it insistently and my mother went to he woman's aid. I held back with my brother, comforting him. His shallow breaths and wet cheeks showed that his innocence was slowly being killed my this mess. Each day he spoke less and less, and in fact it was a while since I heard him spoke.

The woman was crying hysterically and my mother brought her to he sat on the end of bed and started to pour her some water

"Calm down, okay have a drink, are you hungry" my mother said trying to soothe the woman. The woman took a sip of water before saying

"He's after me. He's coming"
