Alice's POV
After some more walking I made it to a stream. I ducted down and sat buy the running water. It had a soothing sound to it and allowed me to feel a little more relaxed. I dipped my hands into the cold waters and cuped some water which I then splashed onto my face, just to feel some sort of refreshment.
I cleared the water from my eyes and blinked a few times, staring at my reflection. It had been a long time since I had seen my self. I didn't even recognise the girl looking back at me. She had messy hair and a pale complexion. Her bones were coming though and her face was locked in a frown. I couldn't bear to look at her anymore so I lifted myself up.
I needed to find a place for when night fell and fast. I didn't have time for dawdling.
The open fields were good in the day but at night they were a nightmare. The night is much colder and darker, seeing approaching threat would be hard and trying to sleep without the risk of being eaten was near to impossible.
I'd say it was around about noonish. The darkness was a few hours away which might give me some time to try and find a suitable place to just pass the night in.
The open fields seemed to empty and after almost an hour I finally stumbled across what appeared to be a brick shed. I had no idea why it was place in such a random area as to this but it was a blessing so I was not to question it.
I pulled out a gun while also putting my hand on my knife as I approached it.
I lifted up a rock and threw it at the structure and waited to see if I heard anything from inside.
Silence.
I walked closer and lifted up another rock and threw it again before listening and again silence.
I decided that it was safer to go and check further.
The bricked up thing has a steal door at the front of it. I walked over to it, my ears pricked up like a bat and I tired to see if I could hear anything inside but I couldn't.
I then placed my hand on the door and prayed to god it wasn't locked and swung it open.
Instantly I jumped back and pulled out my knife and stared into it.
It was pretty dark, as there was only one window which was blocking out most sunlight threw the filth.
I began to walk in and began to hear a slight groan. I weak grown. I had my knife ready and looked in closer to find a Skelton with skin laying on the floor and slowly moving his limps to me as he noticed me. He was one of them.
It appears to be the boy had died of starvation as he was literally just bones and skin but what got me worried is that he didn't appear to have any bite mark or scratch so why had he turned into a blank. Why had he turned dead once he died.
That scared me more than the blank it's self. He was weak and wouldn't be too difficult to kill and get rid off.
I began to walk to his fragile rotted body, gripping my knife tighter with each step. Once I got to him I just went Straight in with it, literally.
I heard his skull crunch as he died for a second time. I ducked down and pulled my knife out. Blood began to dribble down his head and then I got to work wth dragging him out.
He wouldn't be heavy, and hopefully his smell would mask off my smell in case any blanks came near by.
I had him laid just outside the door. I have to admit I felt sorry for the poor guy, he didn't have the essentials to live and ended up dying a slow and highly painful death. He must have been too scared and alone to even be able to try. Maybe he didn't even want to try.
I walked back inside and closed the steal door. It has a loop in it and also a loop on the door frame. I had a feeling that it was locked that way from the inside, and if that wasn't the purpose of those hooks well then it was just good positioning.
I pulled out one of those clips (from some bags, also used for climbing and such I can't remember the name) and clipped it threw the loops securing the door shut.
I then turned around to ready myself for the night. I had a feeling it would be a long once
