Ashley POV

It's been a week since I've woken up out of my comma. The doctor said I was in a car accident with my mother. She died on impact but I survived and have been in a comma for a year. There apparently isn't to much brain damage but enough where I have to learn how to do certain things as well as physical and some speech therapy.

I've lost my memory I don't remember anything at all who I am where I came from or even what my mother looked like. Doctor Anderson said that he was trying to find a relative of mine but so far no luck. I have to say he's pretty cool and not bad to look at either.

I have physical therapy twice a day as well as speech therapy. I've lost about 50 to 60% of my muscle mass the doctor says but with the therapy I should be good in about 3 to 4 months.  By the dinner time comes I've been so tired that I cant even really eat. Lifting my arms is such a chore my arms are always shaking when I try to put food in my mouth.

********* 2 months later

I wake up to a feeling that someone is in my room again. I sit up and look around but I don't see anybody.  I don't even remember how many times I've had this feeling now. All I do no is who ever comes into my room they smell like syrup and strawberries.

I can't wait to get out of this hospital it's driving me nuts the food really does suck some of the nurses aren't nice at all.  I hate the feeling that I'm being watched I don't sit in the garden by myself anymore because I've felt like someone was always watching me. I kept getting goose bumps on my arms and the hair on the back of my neck would stand up.

Today at 10:00 a.m. is the first part of my physical therapy lesson. When Oscar my physical therapist walks in with a big smile on his face I know he has news for me. He always keeps me informed on all the juicy gossip in this place. Its better than watching a soap opera sometimes.

Oscar is Brazillian born and raised. He came over to the United States to go to school at UCLA on a soccer scholarship. After he was done with school he stayed and became a legal citizen of the United States of America.

Because of him going to School here at UCLA it was easy getting in here at the hospital for physical therapy he loves his job you can tell. Did I tell you that he is gay OMG yes and he is really funny. I love Oscar I don't know if I would be where I am without him. I'm two months into my physical therapy and I'm walking on my own and can lift at least ten pounds. Oscar says I've come along way and that I'm is best student.

So Oscar starts telling me the story about the new hot orderly and a three nurse love triangle I just giggle. He always keeps it PG for me he says he will never give me the dirty details because I'm only twelve "if you were two years older baby girl I'd give it to you NC 17". One time he let the F bomb out and I thought he was about to cry he felt so bad.

Oscar says we are going to do some physical therapy outside today because its so nice. As I'm doing my push ups I get that feeling that someone is watching me again. This time I get really annoyed I stand up and look around I see an older women staring right at me with a slight smile that doesn't reach her eyes.

I say to her "are you going to keep staring at me or are you going to talk to me and tell me who you are"?

Oscar says "rude much Missy". I just give him this look and roll my eyes.

She starts to walk over to where we are I just keep looking at her waiting for her to say something. She sits on the bench and taps it for me to sit next to her so I do. I look at Oscar and tell him to give me sometime to talk to her he just nods his head and says "I'm going to get some coffee I will be back in 15 minutes".

It's probably been about a minute since Oscar has left and there is this awkward silence so I start off "Are you the one who has been coming in my room when I'm sleeping"?

"Yes"

"Why? Do I know you or something?"

"I wanted to make sure you were OK. No! You don't know me but I hope you will".

"Are you related to me? How do you know me?"

"Yes. I'm your grandmother".

"Oh" that's all I said.

She put her hand on top of mine it felt nice to have someone who wasn't a doctor or a nurse or a therapist to hold my hand. I just smiled don't ask me how I no she was telling me the truth I just did.

"I want you to come and live with me when they release you from here. Would you be okay with that?"

I just smiled and said "yeah that would be great".  She had a smile on her face and said "Good" she stood up and started to walk away she stop and turned around and said "How did you know I was the one coming into your room?" I told her she smells like maple syrup and strawberries and that was the smell I would smell in my room when I would wake up.

Her smiled was really big this time it touch her eyes she said "that's what your grandfather use to say" and turned and walked away after that.
