Chapter Twenty Three

The day before...

"Bye bye!" Lay yelled out while waving back to the others. Kai and him decided to walk together after the hangout.  It was late anyways and they were going the same way.

Kai placed his hands on his head and looked up at the sky. "Ah.." He sighed out then looked over at Lay. Who seemed as if he was in his own world as well.

"So, how's your week been?" Kai asked trying to make conversation. Lay whistled then thought for a bit.

"I haven't done much. But I did hang out with you guys this week." He smiled at him, "I guess that counts."

Kai starred back at him weirdly. "You're an odd one huh?" He chuckled.
Lay eyes widen. He was just so clueless sometimes.

They smiled then looked back at the road they were walking on. "So how do you feel being apart of the squad now?" Kai kicked a small rock.

"Squad?" Lay questioned.
"Yeah, squad."
Lay eyed Kai confusingly.
"Ya no, a group of friends?" Kai explained.

"Oh, I guess..a little more welcomed." Lay mumbled. Kai scratched his head then peeked over at him. "And your closest too..." Kai urged him to say.

"I  don't know."  Lay blankly said.

"Really? I thought you were closest to (y/u) the way you both talk." Kai eyebrows frowned a little.

"Really? I mean that makes sense maybe.."  Lay placed his fingers on his chin. 

Kai awkwardly looked back at him then asked, "How so?" Lay looked over at him baffled by his question.

"Didn't they tell you? We use to date."

Kai choked on his saliva and coughed. "You ok?" Lay asked  while patting his back. "Ye-yeah I'm fine." Kai waved his hand in the air for reassurance.

Dating.. He never knew.

Confused yet curious he continued to ask. "How do you feel about her..I mean her dating Luhan and all now." Kai mumbled the last words. He was already a little nervous asking.

Lay smiled lightly then looked over at him.

"I love her."

Kai stopped in his tracks then widen his eyes. It was then that Lay realized what he said.

"I mean, I loved her at some point."  He chuckled shyly. Kai hit him on his back and burst out in laughter.

"WOOOOH, for a moment there you had me man!" He laughed out earning a small smile from Lay.

"Sorry, that was a dumb question." Kai let go of him. "Of course your feelings would change over time."

Wonder...

After a moment of silence Kai looked over. "Well, this is where I stop. See you another day bro!" Kai waved then started to run down the small path.

Lay waved away until he disappeared. Then slowly let his arm fall on his denim jeans.

Looking down slightly his hair covered his face. He placed his hands in his pockets. Then looked up towards the sky. Smiling lightly as usual. He chuckled to himself.

"I wonder.."

(Kai POV) I walked on this damned rocky path again. They really should fix this shitty road. 

For some reason I was frustrated... For what reason, I'm sure I already knew.

Lay..He was a really kind guy huh..

It's funny though, even though Lay told me those words.. I couldn't get mad. I can't lie though. If he wouldn't have told me he moved on, I don't think I could be so friendly towards him.

He's a nice guy, right? No need for me to act upset.

dumbass...

What am I saying... I have no reason to get upset to begin with.

And once again I sighed out.
I definitely am..

Really...

"stupid."

SORRY FOR THE VERY VERY VERY LATE UPDATE~ I really hope you guys haven't given up on my story/ stories just yet.

Tbf I love when you guys comment or like my chapters. It keeps me going and makes me happy that someone is actually reading my stuff.

Anyways I'll try harder on making my updates consistent and also approving my writing.
