Picture of the Daventport's (Evan's family) old house

I took a deep breath before knocking on the door. There were a few shouts from a woman and man before the door opened. A woman a bit older than me smiled at me. "Hi, umm, who are you?" She was quite beautiful, she had tan skin accompanied with dark brown hair and eyes.
"My name is Mya. I was hoping to speak with Madeline Davenport. I have some things to discuss with her." She raised her brows in confusion. "She has blonde hair and brown eyes... she's kind of short."
It took a few moment before she nodded her head. "Oh, I remember her. She moved put about four years ago. She gave my husband and I a great deal." There was a crash and we both jumped and turned out heads to where the noise came from. "Come in for a moment. I have to make sure my boys are alive." She led me to the family room where I sat on a cream couch. She disappeared after excusing herself. The room had changed dramatically from the last time I had been here. The previous midnight blue walls were now a nice lavender.
"Who are you?" A man stood at the arch of the room. He had black hair and light brown eyes. His height and his dark suit made him seemingly intimidating. He narrowed his eyes at me when I didn't respond. "If you don't respond, I will call the police."
I stood and stepped toward him. "I am here to speak with Mrs. Davenport but your wife has informed me that she moved out. She asked me to wait here while she ensured that your children were okay-there was a crash earlier." His gaze lingered on me for a while before he walked away with a grunt. I let out a breath, he made me feel as if I was a little a kid again.
After about ten minutes later, the woman had returned with a smile gracing her lips. "I'm sorry my husband was so rude... he's not fond of other people you could say." She gestured me to follow her. "Mrs. Davenport sold me and my husband this house some time ago, I believe nearly four years ago. I couldn't help but buy it, she sold it for a steal; we couldn't pass. Anyways, I doubt you're here for my story." We walked into the kitchen where two boys sat. "Nate and Mike, this is Mya."
"Hi, Mya." They were almost exact copies of their father as well as each other. They didn't dwell on my appearance for too long as they returned to the work that sat before them.
"I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Val." I nodded as she continued to look through a draw for whatever she was looking for. "Aha!" She pulled out a card and handed it to me. "She gave me this card when we arrived at the open house. Thankfully I don't throw much away." She handed me the card. " I hope that helps."
We talked a bit before she walked me to the front door. "Thank you, Val, this will help a lot."
                                                                                            ***
I had called the number what felt like a million times (it was really like ten) only to receive a voicemail each and every time. I sighed. All I want is for Ian to know his father, he deserves that.
Annoyed, I walked into the nearest coffee shop and ordered a hot chocolate and a donut. As I turned around after collecting my food, I bumped into someone causing my drink to drop and spill on the floor. "Damn!"
"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry. It's all my fault." She turned to the woman behind the counter. "Another one on the house." I immediately recognized the blonde hair as Evan's younger sister, Lia. "Mya?"
After getting another cup of hot cocoa and Lianna's cup of coffee, we both sat down. "Where were you?" I couldn't help but ask.
My sister-in-law's eyes looked at me in confusion. "What do you mean 'where were you?'? Where the fuck were you?" We sat there in silence for a few minutes before she spoke. "I was in a rehab facility." My mouth moved to ask her question but she shushed me. "I wasn't addicted to anything. My parents had paid the center to keep me under their watch. They allowed my release team years ago and gave me fifty thousand dollars and a car to keep me quiet...I guess."
We sat at the table, watching as people passed by with shopping bags in their hand. "They told me that Ethan had died in a car accident the day you asked me to come over. My mom had gotten me to finally suck it up and collect his insurance claim only to realize that he was alive all this time." I took a sip of my drink. "Everyone was in on it, you parents, Amelia, David and even your grandparents. It's still a lot to take in. I can't, even after four years, believe that they could lie about something so serious especially since I was pregnant."

"Woah woah woah, what?" I smiled. I had forgotten that we hadn't seen each other for years. "I have a nephew and my family did what?" We spent the next few hours talking about what the Davenport's had put us both through over the years and how we had dealt with it.

Lia walked me back to my car. "We could always hire a PI."
I smiled but shook my head, "That's the last thing I want to do." If Evan had really loved me he wouldn't have left me and had his family lie about something so serious. "I might visit you in a couple of weeks. I want to meet my handsome nephew." We exchanged numbers before I drove to my hotel.
As I was falling asleep, I couldn't help but think how cruel they were to lie to not only me but also their daughter.
