"Ready or not, here I come!" Uncovering my face, I scanned my eyes across the open space of my apartment which included my kitchen, dining room and living room. I smiled at the sound of Ian's giggle coming from my bedroom. Stepping towards my room's door, I noticed that it was cracked upon rather than closed like I had left it a few minutes earlier. Opening door, I stepped into my suite. The door creaked slightly causing the giggles to abruptly stop.
I knew where he was- in my closet but instead, I looked behind and under my bed, in the bathroom and finally reached closet. "Iannn." There was a muffled sound coming from behind the closet door. Opening the closet, I almost immediately spotted Ian next to my empty black suitcase. "I found you!" His green eyes looked into mine and smiled.
The door knocked and Ian rushed to the door with me calling after him. "Do not open the door without me!"
"Okay!" When I got to the front door, he was waiting. Looking out the peephole, I recognized Sarah's hair and allowed for Ian to open the door. "Hi Auntie Sarah!" Sarah bent down and embraced him. She closed the door and stepped into the apartment and spotted me.
"I'm ready to get you ready for your date!" I groaned. It was not a date.

Nearly an hour later, I was ready. I, with the help of Sarah, had decided to wear a pair of black high waisted jeans and a white off the shoulder top. The black pointed heels that I wore were adorable. The only problem was that I hadn't worn heels in a long time, I had mostly settled for wedges or flats over the years- they were much more comfortable. I touched the necklace that sat on my chest. Ian had bought it for me for mother's day a few months earlier. It was a silver chained tied to a small (plastic) diamond. My hair was straightened despite my protest, stopping in the middle if my back My face barely had makeup on it, besides my winged eyeliner and some lip balm.
Sarah and Ian were both seated on my bed playing cards when I entered from my bathroom. Once they noticed me, they both gaped. I couldn't help but laugh at their reaction. For the past few years, I would admit I never properly got dolled up and definitely hadn't straightened my hair since my wedding... but did I look that bad?
Ian was the first to snap out of it and rush off the bed and into my arms. "You look pretty." I smiled and kissed Ian's cheek before thanking him.
"Go get your bag, you and Aunt Sara have to leave soon." He nodded and rushed out of my room. I looked at Sarah who was smiling widely. "What?"
"I'm just so proud of you." I rolled my eyes and unplugged my phone from the charger. "I'm serious, you are actually going on a date!" She squealed and I laughed. "But besides that, you look hot."
"Mommy, I'm ready!" Sarah stood from the bed and grabbed her phone from the bed. After grabbing our things, we all headed to the front door where I said goodbye to Ian.
"Be good for Auntie Sarah and Uncle Hall, okay?" He nodded enthusiastically. "I love you. Call me whenever okay?" He nodded again and I kneeled down to his level and wrapped my arms around him.
"Mooooom." Laughing I let go and stood.
"I'll see you guys tomorrow." I watched as they left the apartment, closing the door behind him. I decided to
The door of my bedroom opened to reveal Ian who just gaped at me. I couldn't help but laugh. Ian has never seen me dressed up for any real occasion since there was never an occasion to dress up form. "You look pretty." I thanked him and picked him up and walked out of my room with him before me. "Mommy's ready!"
Sarah looked at me for a few moments as I walked into the kitchen to check my phone. "Wow, you look hot." I flashed a smile and thanked her. She checked her watch and realized that it was nearing nine, which was Ian's bedtime and the time I was meant to meet Damien. "I got his bag. Please have fun." With that said and a hug and kiss from two of my favorite people, they left.
It didn't take long for me to reach the Karaoke bar. The whole twenty-minute drive to the karaoke bar, I couldn't help but feel nervous. I hadn't been out -properly- for nearly five years. When I arrived at the building, I parked my car behind the building where there were dozens if opened spots.
When I walked into the bar, I almost immediately spotted Damien as did he. I walked over to the table that he sat at with two other people- a woman and a man. I walked to the table and greeted them. "Mya, this is Jasper and Monica. Jasper and Monica, this is Mya."
Monica was a beautiful girl with brown curls that framed her face. She was wearing a navy blue romper which complimented her dark skin tone. Next to her sat Jasper who had a beige skin tone with light brown eyes. He wore a plain white shirt and jeans.
"You wanna grab a drink?" I looked up at Damien who was now standing in front of me and nodded. I decided on a beer as did Damien. "You look beautiful by the way. Like... wow." I laughed at his comment but thanked him nonetheless. "What's so funny about your beauty?" I didn't reply.
An hour in and a lot of bad singing, Monica and Jasper decided to leave leaving Damien and I by ourselves. I had learned that Monica was one of Damien's younger sister and Jasper was her fiancee who both lived nearly an hour away but came to visit the family.
I rubbed my arms, it was freezing cold in here. "I'm going to get my jacket in the car." Damien volunteered to come with me in order to ensure my safety. We walked in silence to my car. I unlocked my car and grabbed my leather jacket that sat in my passenger seat. I locked my car, slipping on the jacket.
"You wanna walk on the beach for a bit?" I raised my eyes the suggestion. We were not a couple. "C'mon, I really want to put my feet in the water right. Contemplating my actions, I slipped my heels off my feet and held them by the straps.
"Let's go, Doctor King." He smiled and followed beside me onto the beach.
Eventually, we settled on the sand, next to each other looking at the water. "Mya?" I turned to look at him. "If I asked you out, what would you say?"
Note| I honestly don't like the beginning but I'll probably change that later. Anyways, hope you enjoyed and I'll be uploading one in a few minutes
