She pauses, not sure what just happened. To be honest, I don't know either. I feel my cheeks burn up as I continue to hold her.
For a second, we just stayed the way we were, and then finally, she broke the silence.
"...why...?" She say quietly. " Are you sorry for me, pitying me, or do you really just not give a damn about it?"
I'm suprised, the remark she just made is in such a rude tone, but her words feel like they're falling apart.
I don't know how to respond, and I'm questioning myself why I did it in the first place, however, all I say is the first thing that pops within my mind.
"Because no one should ever be treated that way."
She flinches a little, as if she wasn't expecting that answer. Just how bad was this girl treated to flinch at a positive answer?
"...ha..."
I hear a small noise from her, then soon the noise turns into giggling to laughter.
I let go, dumbfounded. "Did I say something?"
She stands up, and turns to face me. "You said everything. Thank you." She smiles. It's not devilish or scary, but kind and charming.I feel my face become hot as she continues to laugh. She turns to me again, I can tell she's getting a good look at my face. "Your kinda cute you know that?"
I begin to blush even more, "Oh be quiet! Weren't you upset like 5 minutes ago?"
"Yeah, I was," She says with a kindsmile that seems a little forced, very unnatural, "But who wants to sulk forever? Though you may not realize it, time continues, whether you like it or not. So you have no choice but to move forward and do your best, correct?"
"...I guess so..." I agree, though it's still bothering me, "...but why are you so calm about something tremendous like this? It's like your use to this kind of thing."
She tenses up for a little bit, you can barely see it. "Well..." She starts, facing me with a smile so forced it gives the opposite feeling it's supposed to give.
"Maybe it's because I am."
She turns her head back as she walks down the stairs to the second floor as I stay, unable to move from the top of the staircase. " Thank you for everything, I owe you one, though I'm sorry if I was troublesome to you."
Watanabe faces me one more time as I awkwardly sit on the stairs. "People aren't wrong when they said you were a great president, see ya."
And with that, she turns her head as she walks down the stairs to first floor.
What just happened? Seriously, what was that girl? I know not to judge a book by its cover, but where was the 'brute' in her? Besides her words earlier, she was kind and sweet.
"I-I...don't...get it at all!" I burst out, and quickly bolt after her.
"Watanabe!" I yell to her as she's close to leaving the school gate. " You are troublesome, so someone needs to look after you so your not so careless."
She freezes as I slowly walk up to her. When I finally went up to her, she turns, glaring at me, "That such a tsundere thing to say."
My voice starts to raise, "What do you mean by 'tsundere'? I'll tell you this is how I normally talk. I'm sorry if I don't live up to your expecta-"
"It's fine," she says, giggling. "I never said it was bad..."
What have I got myself into?
"Well whatever. Meet me in the student council room tomorrow."
"Huh? Why?" She question. "Am I in trouble for bothering you so much?" She says, smirking. "Well you did kinda start it."
"No, it's not that," I assure, though a bit annoyed at her remark. "Well, where else will we hang out if I have paperwork to do tomorrow morning?"
Her face becomes blank. "...hang out?..." She says, conflicted. "...what do you mean?..."
"Well, that's what friends do, right?"
She looks at me with a excited but confused look on her face. "Your joking, aren't you? Your toying with me?"
"What? Why not? Your kinda rude and annoying," I say with a long pause after, causing her to glare me down. "B-but you also seem like you have a kind and caring personality as well."
"...aww..." She seems like she's about to tear up. "Thats sweet of yo-"
"You also owe me one. So your gonna stay with me after school tomorrow to do paperwork with me."
"...so that was your real intention wasn't it..." she says, gloomy.
"Eh...it's more like half and half," I say, jokingly. "Anyway, I'm done for the day, so you want to go anywhere?"
"What?" She says, astonished. "I'm fine so it doesn't matter. I'm gonna go home now."
"Well, at least let me be a gentleman and walk you home." I say, I don't want to seem rude, though I did feel like I'm being a little forceful.
"No! Uh, don't worry, it's fine." She says walking away from me. "Besides, you left your bag probably in the council room and you forgot to change from uwabaki to your shoes. Well, gotta fly!" She's bursts, running away from the school and me as fast as possible.
"Hey! Come back!" I yell, but she doesn't stop. Great, now I have to clean these, get my bag, and change my shoes. Fantastic. At least she pointed it out, but she used that to her escape!
"...stupid..." I mutter, walking back to the entrance of the school.Authors note: I really need to update more often. How long has it been, 2 months? Well, i was very conflicted on how to continue the story, but im happy how it turned out. Also, the picture i used for this chapter is from akagami no shirayuki hime, which has a better story than mine, definitely. Anyway thank you for reading!
