Chapter 2

Not soon after Jacob walked out of the bathroom. He glanced over at Mailyn and saw how professional she looked. She held such power in herself. She was sitting there as if she didn't just jump him. He shook his head and walked back to his desk. Jacob was glad that he has her phone number now. He plans on asking Allison if she knows about Mailyn's love life. Hopefully Allison will be able to give him a little knowledge.

Mailyn shuts off her computer and gets up. It's four o'clock now. She's been there for about twelve hours. She knows there won't really be any work to do today. She can't start a new case without knowing how long this one with Jacob is going to be. "Good bye Jacob." She gave a nice nod and opened the office door to leave. "Where are you going?" Mailyn clenched her teeth once again with Jacob. She stopped where she was and slowly turned around. She didn't really think it was any of his business. She ignored his question as to where and changed it to why. "I don't have any more work here and decided I might as well go home. I've already been here very long. Can't really do anything about the case, until we get more information. So good day, Mr., I mean Jacob." She turned back around and only had one more step and she would be out of the door. " Wait, I'll walk out with you. You are right, I might as well leave too." Mailyn clenched then unclenched her fist. 'Mailyn you must give people a chance. Smile a little.' A memory flashed through her mind. "That is fine by me Mr. Ugh I mean Jacob." Then she smiled at him, but the smile didn't connect with her eyes. Jacob smiled back. He was surprised she didn't object and it was cute that she would catch herself on calling him his last name. It was amusing to see Mailyn fake a smile and not even try to make it look sincere.He turned off his laptop and gestured for her to walk out first. He followed right behind her, watching her hips move side to side. He looked at Tim and said goodbye as Mailyn said goodbye to Allison. They walked to the elevator and pressed the button to go down. The elevator doors opened and they entered.

Allison knows that Mr. Jacob Roster has a thing for Mailyn. His eyes tell it all. After the first time Jacob saw Mailyn she noticed that he stopped flirting with the female staff. Allison knows Jacobs a big goof and she knows that he would be perfect for Mailyn. Just as Mailyn would be perfect for him with her stubbornness and power. She hopes Ms.Mailyn will give him a chance.

They didn't really talk much through the elevator. Jacob kept sneaking glances at Mailyn contemplating on what to say. The elevator music was the only noise. Jacob then got the courage. "Mailyn, are you free tonight? Maybe we could go out to dinner and discuss work." He really wasn't planning on discussing work, but he hoped that would spike her interest or at least have her agree. Mailyn took a pause and turned to him. Was he asking her out on a date? Wasn't she always practically rude to him? Does he like to be abused? ' it could be possible. Ruby always goes back to the same guy that hurt her.' " I'm sorry Jacob I have other plans for this evening. We can discuss work tomorrow when I see you in the office." Any normal guys ego would've been severely damaged, but not Jacobs. He would get her to go out with him at least once. The elevator doors opened just on timing and Mailyn booked out of there fast. She was glad her car was close to the door. She rushed in and hurried to put the key in the ignition. She sped out before Jacob walked out of the building. She doesn't know how fast she was going but she was home a lot sooner than it normally took.

Mailyn parked the car and started hitting the steering wheel in front of her apartment building. "Stupid, stupid, stupid! What the hells wrong with you." She looked in her car mirror. "You are independent, you don't need any man. You need to stop this behavior. You must stay professional at all times." Some how Mailyn knew it would be hard. As much as she hates to admit, she's attracted to Mr.Jacob Roster. She's attracted to the manwhore. The guy that probably broke so many girls hearts. She felt disgraceful to her self. She pulled out the key and got out of her car. She entered her home and decided to take a long bath. The grocery store will have to wait.
