Arborvitae- everlasting friendship
~Kira~
"Where is she?" Adrian burst into my room, stumbling a little.
"What? Where is who?"
"You know exactly who! Where is she? Did you tell her to leave?" He leaned heavily against the door. "How far could she have gone?" He murmered softly.
"You mean Luna? I thought she would be with you..." I replied sullenly. "She seems quite taken by you considering you're a "monster" and all."
I was sulking, sure, but I felt a little betrayed by Luna's co-operation with the vampire that was standing in front of me. And what was Ryan's connection to all of this. But my sulking was interrupted when Adrian fell forward.
"Ne! What's wrong?"
"She's gone." He answered weakly. "Luna... She left."
He was gasping and holding his stomach in pain. What was wrong with him? It didn't make sense that he would be reacting like this.
"Good." I said. "She finaly returned to her normal self. I knew she wouldn't just roll over and accept a vampire."
"You stupid, shallow mortal." He gasped.
I felt a flush of anger crawling through me. Luna had found herself an ignorant monster.
"If I'm like this..." He trailed. "She'll be worse!"
"What do you mean?" Dread replaced the anger. "Its because of your Bond to her isn't it?" I said, finally comprehending the implications of his words.
"That stupid girl." He said. "How far could she have gone."
"Don't worry. I'll bring her back." But my words didn't reach Adrian because he had already passed out.
Luna was to stubborn. She would probably be to proud to admit she was feeling sick. She wouldn't acknowledge the fact that the further away she was, the worse she felt. Instead she would label it as guilt or some other similar emotion and push herself further away.
The stupid girl thought that strength came from denying all emotions. Ever since the day she invited me to the institute, I had understood that she had shut herself away from the world. I accepted her offer because I had felt a connection, a similarity, and could see how lonely she really was.
We both had dark pasts and nothing to lose...
I managed to carry Adrian to a vacant room and tucked him in. I felt his forehead. For a vampire that was supposedly dead, to run a fever... It was a new experiance for me to say the least.
I then returned to my room and dug out all my weapons. Luna would most likely have gone hunting. She had the unique ability to attract trouble where ever she may decide to go, so I knew having weapons would be a good idea.
I also fished out my katana. Adrian had returned it to me due to Luna's demand. I unsheethed it and gently ran my finger across the whirls treated into the blade. The whirls were like waves- pretty suitable for who I was.
Finally, I was ready. I headed down the maze of corridors to the entrance. With one glance back, I pulled the door open and tentatively stepped outside.
"Where are you going?"
I sighed in frustration.
Ryan.
Why was he so nosey?"I don't see how that is any of your business." I stated rudely as I carried on walking. When I got to the end of the long road, I stopped and closed my eyes.
Where would she be?
I took a deep breath in. Luna would look for a vampire den. The tricky part is; would she have gone for the East den or the West den. I mentally calculated- the East den was closer so she would be able to fight sooner, the West den was further so she would get further away.
"Kira? Kira!" Ryan was shouting my name. I turned on him snarling and fully intending on telling him to shut the hell up, but the words fell out of my mind and I stared at him blankly.
"You're a vampire, aren't you?" I asked him dumbly. "How are you even here in the sun?"
"I'm half vampire." He stated simply in a tone that was very clear he wasn't up to explaining. He then said, "Where are you going?"
"A certain stupid someone decided it would be a good idea to leave despite being Bonded."
His eyes widened and he said, "But how far could she have possibly gone?"
"Far enough to make Aidan pass out."
Suddenly I knew exactly which vampire den she had headed towards. She had gone for the West one.
"Do you have a car?" I asked Ryan.
Five minutes later and I'm standing in front of a...
"You drive a Hersch?"
He shrugged and looked at me with a lobsided grin and shrugs. "I thought it would be ironic."
I huff to cover my amusement. "Keys!" I demand.
"But I want to drive." He whined.
"Do you even know where to go?" I asked him with a superior smile.
He tosses the keys to me mumbling that I could've given him directions and whether I was even old enough to drive.
Slowly I climb into the front seat. I was breath taken by the vintage look and leather seats. I turned the key for the ignition and pulled out onto the road. It was a good thing the area was so deserted because otherwise I'm fairly sure there would've been a crash. Then again it was Ryan's car and not mine.
Ryan was gripping onto the seats so hard his knuckles had turned white. I lifted my free hand and patted him reassuringly.
"Hey, at least if we crash- you're already dead." I laughed at his scowl which turned to pure terror as I took a corner without looking at the road.
"My poor, poor baby. If you crash I'll never forgive you."
I was internally laughing, secure in the knowledge I could probably drive blindfolded due to my ability.
"Don't worry, we're nearly there." I reassured Ryan.
