~Kira~
I wasn't to sure where Luna had gotten the idea to drag me to the pool from. I hardly ever swam but when I did I was always usually the first one in and the last one out.
That afternoon was no exception. Sure we had fun for the first three hours, but by the fourth hour Luna had turned into a shriveled tomato. Her pale complexion never agreed with the idea of "healthy" sunlight. If I didn't know better I would probably assume that we were the vampires in the house.
"Come oooon Luna!" I moaned dramatically. But she simply waved off my whining, replying with "We've been swimming for hours already..."
I sighed. "Its fine. You can get out but I want to stay longer."
She looked at me guiltily. I really didn't mind if she stayed or went. I was only whining at her because it was her idea to drag me to the pool in the first place!
Curse her insufferable pride. Pride isn't one of the seven deadly sins for no reason. Its not like I needed constant supervision. I could probably kill most of the monsters out there.
"Are you sure you're fine on your own? You won't... You know..." She looked at me pointedly.
"Don't worry. I won't do anything stupid. I promise. And anyways, I'm not four- you don't have to watch over me all the time, you know?"
She mumbled under her breath as she got out of the pool.
"Just don't do anything stupid." She mumbled. I gave her my brightest smile and nodded my head.
"Shoo!" I motioned dismissively with my hands and earned a scathing look from her.
"You better enjoy yourself Sebastien." She mockingly commanded.
"Yes, my Lord." I exagerated a bow and lowered my head.
She laughed, flicking her wet hair over her shoulder as she left.
Finally alone, I allowed myself to float on my back. The cool water soothing against my skin and drowning out all the unwanted thoughts.
"Why'd she call you Sebastien? I thought your name was Kira?" Ryan's deep voice startled me.
I thrashed around, losing all my meditative thoughts, and nearly sunk to the bottom of the pool.
"What the hell! Are you a stalker or something?" I screeched at him.
He mumbled under his breath and nervously hid behind his dark hair.
"What was that?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"I, uh, I came to apologise." He eventually admitted loud enough for me to hear.
"Apologise for what?" I was smirking now. My sadistic side coming out in order to tease him. "Are you apologising for being an ass or are you apologising for drinking my blood or are you apologising for not answering any of my questions like a civil monster?"
His eyes shot up to mine and an indignant look passed over his pretty features. Damnit, he'd be so pretty if he didn't go around and ruin it with his arrogance.
"Fine, I see you don't actually see my apology as worth anything."
Anger sparked inside me.
"Now don't go making presumptions about a girl you could never hope to know." My voice was even and frosty. If Luna were here, she'd know that it was my angry voice. My "calm before the storm" so to speak.
I slowly walked to the edge of the pool and pulled myself up in one graceful move. It was a graceful move that I'd spent years trying to perfect and often managed to mess up. But of course, anger brings out the elegance and beauty within us.
I stalked towards Ryan. This time he would be the one in an awkward situation. I stalked towards him slowly and he chuckled nervously.
That's right, be scared. There is no fury like a woman scorned. I lifted my hand and trailed it over his chest. I gazed up smugly at his confused expression. He really was pretty.
Then he opened his mouth and said, "Looks like the little pet enjoys being a blood bag." The arrogant fool.
I jerked my knee up between his legs and, while he was unbalanced, shoved him into the pool. He came up gasping and spluttering.
"I'm sure I've introduced you to that move... But I didn't think it'd make you so... Wet." I laughed at my insinuation and flicked my wet hair away from my face.
Ryan simply scowled at me. His clothes were sticking tightly to his body, eccentuating his defined muscles. I couldn't help but appreciate his prettiness, even though he was rude and annoying.
"Oh you asked for it!" He exclaimed jumping out the pool.
My eyes widened as he charged towards me. He lifted me up in a single swoop. He ignored my protests and walked towards the pool, dumping me in ungracefully. What he didn't expect was for me to grab his wrist and cause him to tumble in once again.
We both surfaced and I burst out laughing. I stopped, shocked, when Ryan's laughter joined mine.
"You're a pretty decent nightmare." I told him, "I've had plenty worse."
I felt my eyes prickling with those happy tears you get from laughing to much. I don't think he expected me to just open up like that.
"Its Okay, you don't have to explain yourself." He said quietly. "It would be easier if you hated me." He said the last part so softly I barely heard him say anything.
"My name isn't really Kira." Seeing as I was in a sharing mood, I might aswell tell him a little about myself. "I chose the name Kira because it translates to "killer" in Japanese and that's all I am. Even before I was picked up by the Institute, all I knew was death and destruction. I've had so many nightmares that I can't tell the difference between those nonexisting horrors and the reality we supposedly walk in. Out of the both of us, I'm probably the bigger monster." I finished my rant, my eyes gazing hollowly around me.
"You're not a monster Kira. I know you."
"You know me?" I asked. His eyes widened in shock and he turned away.
"I- I should... I should go now" He stuttered as he dashed away from my confusion. What the hell was going on? Who was Ryan?
