Tyler and Josh's steps fell into sync as they walked down the sidewalk.
They had been asking each other questions for the last 5 minutes back and forth, in order to get to know each other better. Well, they were going to be spending the next few months together, so they might as well.

"How many siblings do you have?" Asked Tyler, fiddling with the edges of his sleeves.

Josh glanced up, "3. There's Ashley who's 15, Jordan who's 12 and Abby who's 5."

"Do you miss them?"

"Of course! They're my best friends." Josh said, smiling at the thought of them.

"I wish i was as close to my siblings as you are..." Tyler replied, looking at his feet as he walked.

"You're not? I saw Zack and Maddy together, they looked pretty close to me."

Tyler sighed, "They're closer to each other because I'm always busy with school and basketball and such."

Josh nodded in understanding and they fell into a comfortable silence as they walked through the city. Tyler occasionally pointed out interesting things to Josh, but for the most part they just enjoyed each others company.

"Wanna get lunch? There's a Taco Bell near." Tyler suddenly spoke, breaking josh out of his thoughts.

Josh grinned and nodded eagerly, he would never turn down Taco Bell.

The two started to head to the town centre when Tyler suddenly stopped in his tracks.

"Shit. Shit, shit!" Tyler gasped before grabbing Josh's wrist and pulling him behind a nearby tree.

Josh yelped in surprise, and tried to ignore the warmth spreading through his body at Tyler's touch, ducking down behind Tyler. "What? Who is it?"

Tyler hesitated slightly, "no one. Just people from my school... Let's go a different way" he blurted quickly, dropping Josh's wrist and spinning on his heel.

Josh lingered behind slightly, eyes darting between the quickly retreating Tyler and the group of teenagers standing on the sidewalk, before shrugging and quickly catching up to the hunched boy.

"I take it you're not friends with them?" Josh asked gently.

Tyler snorted, "friends? Quite the opposite actually."
Josh nodded in understanding and they walked the rest of the way in silence.
