"W-whats this?" I ask, sending Erwin an unsure smile.
"Open it and you'll see," he plainly said.
A note, a scrunched up piece of paper was placed in my hand and I didn't dare opening it. Me and Erwin had been a bit off lately, everything seemed quite distant between the both of us, so receiving is face-to-face only had me thinking the worst.
Eg. A break up letter.
My eyes locking with his for some sort of reassurance, I gulped. He motioned for me to open the lined paper and after a few minutes of silence, I finally did.
His eyes on me, my hands shook in fear for what I'm about to read; though what I read is more then surprising....
----
"Levi, Levi! You need to wake up now!" Eyes shooting open, body bolting up into a sitting position, Levi's head snaps in the direction of the gormless looking Jean. "H-he's got... he's got.."
"EREN!" He was wide awake and stunned. Looking towards the sofa were Eren once laid, Levi jumped up onto my feet and charged at Jean. "Where is he?! Where'd he take him?!"
"I-I don't know! I heard movement b-but I don't know! They left Annie's gone too and and and and.."
"Fuck-sake!!" Rubbing his temples pacing only few steps forwards, to maneuver back again; his eyes stare down at were Eren once was. "Wait, what.. what is that?" Levi asks impatiently, reaching down for the crumbled up letter. "What is this? Was it here before?"
Catching his breath, Jean begins speaking as Levi unfolds the paper. "I don't know, I never even noticed it."
"What's going on?" Yawned a tired Marco, coming up behind Jean. "Where's Eren?"
"We don't know," Jean answered, only watching as Levi brows arch downwards. "What does it say?"
"It's a... it's a suicide letter?" Levi responds, unsure of his own voice and if that was really him admitting that.
"A what?!" Marco growls, pushing past Jean and taking a hold of letter. Though, Levi allowed him, misunderstanding the feeling of rage. "Dear friends- this isn't even his writing! Dear friends, I'm sorry to say I'll be taking my life today. I don't want to live anymore. Please know it's not your fault. Goodbye, Eren."
"That's not even realistic!" Jean frowned. "Eren would've said a lot more then that. It's fraud!"
"Yes," Levi nodded under deep thought, "which means that Erwin was the one to write it-"
"-and Erwin's going to be the one to kill him." Marco finished with a gasp. "We need to stop him! We still have time! Right?"
"We can't not tell the police about this anymore," Jean butted in.
"But we need evidence," Levi said.
"For what?" Both asked, head tilted in a confused way.
"If we go up to the police and tell them that Erwin, a former police, is going to kill our friend, do you think they'll believe us when we have no evidence?" Levi pondered, storming past both males to the house phone.
"We have this don't we?" Jean said, raising the paper into the air.
"Yes, we have a suicide letter. If we're to show that the the police, they're going to believe it's a suicide letter when it's not. We need to find something with both Erwin's and Eren's hand writing on it so we can prove to them it was written by Erwin and not Eren." The raven explains.
