Yukio held onto me when he let me see Yuki. My son's arms were badly damaged, and he was barely breathing. I cried into Yukio's shirt for hours before Shiro screamed himself awake.
"I had a nightmare! Yuki was killed, and you were badly injured, Mama!" He wailed.
I pulled him close to my body and held onto him. He couldn't see his brother. Not after that.
"Come with me. Shiro, I have to talk to you. Tuno, please come with us." Yukio said.
Shiro shook his head and clung to me. "I don't want to go anywhere!"
"Don't you want to see Yuki?" Yukio asked.
I glared at him. "He doesn't need to see him! He just said he had a nightmare where Yuki was killed!"
"It will help him understand why those birds attacked. Give him to me."
I shook my head and sheltered Shiro behind me. "No! If he sees Yuki, he'll only blame himself!"
"I'm not arguing with you! Give me my son!" He snapped.
Shiro slipped around me and climbed into Yukio's arms. I hissed and followed them to the boys' room. I stood in the doorway when Yukio set Shiro down next to Yuki's bed.
"W-What is that?" Shiro asked, referring to Yuki's injury.
"It's called a temptaint. Only Demons can give then to humans." Yukio explained.
"So those birds that attacked us? They were Demons?"
"Yes."
"Mama and I are Demons, too. Aren't we?"
Yukio sighed and got on his knees. He placed his hands on Shiro's shoulders.
"Yes. You and your mother are Demons. I am a half-Demon, and that's what you are."
"What about Yuki?"
Yuki groaned, and that's when I saw his ears. They were pointed slightly.
"The temptaint has brought out his powers." I said.
Shiro looked at me, his eyes filled with wonder. "Is that what an Exorcist does? Kill Demons?"
"We only kill the bad Demons."
