Hey everyone! I'm back! I just want to say thank you to those who have been reading this book; from my very first reader to my newest reader, thank you all for supporting it! You have my love!

Another side note: There will be jutsus appearing starting from this chapter. The Japanese pronunciation is in bold while the English meaning is after it in normal font. Sorry if it gets confusing; I just think the Japanese version is cooler, but we probably all still want to know what it actually means, right? These are sometimes the weirdest translations, though, so sorry if it sounds super strange.

Anyways, enjoy the story!

As Rin did fitness training in the forest behind the Akatsuki hideout, she pondered over how she was going to leave them. Would they kill her? She really hoped not, or all her efforts would be for nothing. However, she couldn't leave without telling Pein, since he was the leader and she did feel obligation. What about her friends there? She begrudgingly admitted to herself that the whimsical Akatsuki had somehow reached her heart. What about Itachi? The two definitely knew each other from their childhood years, but it had never been acknowledged between them. She wondered if he had a secret to keep, feigning his ignorance of ever meeting her. She was beginning to doubt some of her feelings for a member as well... She was worried that she was starting to like someone as more than just a friend.

The kunoichi scowled as she reached her 300th push-up. She stood up, her eyes darkened and troubled. Suddenly, she felt the presence of someone and tensed. Closing her eyes for a brief moment, she twirled and threw three kunai diagonally to the right. A chuckle reached her ears. I was right, she thought.

"You have exceptional sensory skills, Rin. You would do well in the ANBU's tracking division." The medic froze. Slowly, she turned to meet the owner of the voice, although she already knew who it was.

"Itachi-san," she greeted, her eyes wary and colder than usual. Rin pressed her lips together.

"Relax, Rin. Only I know what your affiliation is. Or should I say... your past affiliation?" Itachi's eyes bore into her, prompting her to tell the truth. Rin looked back with the same intense eyes. She knew Itachi suspected that she had an ulterior motive behind joining the Akatsuki, as how she had been captured had once been told over dinner. She had willingly let Sasori and Deidara take her, after all.

"Okay, I'll give it to you that your suspicions are right, but I truly mean no harm to the Akatsuki, Itachi-san," she said, her eyes cold and her words edged with sadness.

"I would believe so. I can see how much you love the members as your family, you know," Itachi replied, hints of a smile on his face. "Just like how you used to treat your team."

Rin's gaze slid down to the grassy clearing. She sighed and scratched the back of her head sheepishly.

"You're too smart for me, Itachi-san. Still, it's a complicated situation. You should understand what I'm saying."

Itachi tensed and his eyes narrowed just the tiniest bit. Rin had no idea what it was, but she realized that the Uchiha prodigy was hiding something big. She had only wanted to express that he was smart enough to know just how complicated her situation was, but he obviously took it a different way. The two locked eyes, stubbornly keeping their secret to themselves. Rin shrugged.

"Want to spar with me, Itachi-san?" she chirped, all her moodiness pushed down so to enjoy as much as she could. The teen before her visibly relaxed.

"Are you sure you're ready for it?" the Uchiha teased.

"You're underestimating me. I'm the strongest out of all of you, you know."
