Sullivan's Point of View:
I slammed my hand on the button that rested on the top of my alarm clock that continuously beeped in attempts to wake me from my slumber. And it achieved it's goal everyday. I hastily threw my sheets off of my warm body, causing the wind to nip at my skin and cause goosebumps to erupt all over. I sighed as I read the green digitized numbers on my alarm clock, that flashed 8:00.
I plodded to my bathroom and scoffed at the sight in front of me. My brown hair was a tousled mess on top of my head, resembling a bird nest. I ran the cold water, and splashed it on my face, the temperature hitting me like a truck. I dipped my toothbrush's bristles in the water then applied a layer of toothpaste. I aimlessly brushed around, humming along the music to girls/girls/boys by panic! at the disco. I then spit out the minty lather into the sink, soon wiping the side of my mouth with a towel that hung on the side of the wall.
I walked back into my bedroom as I brushed my hair, detangling the mess. I rummaged through my box of clothes, and picked out a blue flannel shirt and a white bustier along with shorts. Sometimes my fashion sense was just like my sister's, but maybe more band merch and vans was included. I removed my pajamas, and slipped on the layers of clothing. Following my usual morning routine for school, I applied foundation and concealer to my blemished skin, drawing a cat eye on my lids and adding mascara that made my blue eyes pop. I added a coat of pale pink gloss to my lips, wiping away the excess that went over to my skin.
"You ready yet?" I heard Ada ask as she let herself into my room.
I nodded my head as I played with my hair, trying to make it get in the usual messy hairstyle I used to put it in. Once I achieved the perfect look, I sat down and put on my navy blue converse high tops, that I had worn out. I swung my empty bag over my shoulder and followed Ada downstairs.
"Did dad make breakfast?" I asked as she shrugged and poured herself a glass of orange juice.
"I guess he's still sad about the mom situation last night."
I grabbed an apple out of the basket and bit through it, unable to find anything else that was edible for breakfast. I was planning on going grocery shopping after school.
"Alright, time to go." Ada said as she looked at the time on her phone screen.
We both walked out the door and walked down the street to arrive to our new school.
After walking a few blocks, we walked through the gates that had the schoolyard behind it. My heart pounded in my chest as eyes laid on us, the students obviously knowing we weren't from here.
Ada strutted past me once she realized those few boys she spoke to yesterday went to this school, and I was left alone, yet again. I held on tighter to my bag straps as I passed a few intimidating girls who had a menacing gaze on me. I walked inside and the halls had a few people roaming around, and I'm assuming they all were dweebs, because everyone hung out outside until the bell rang.
"Hi, I'm Calum." a boy said, causing me to jolt due to his unexpected appearance. He laughed as I took his hand and shook it.
"I'm Sullivan, you can call me Sully though." I replied as he nodded his head, and pointed his finger at me, showing he would try to remember.
"You're new here, huh?" he asked, as he followed behind me to my empty locker. My father already received all the information for my school schedules, so I didn't have to worry going to the prinicpal's office to get them myself.
"Yeah, I moved here from New York because of my parent's divorce." I explained as I emptied my notebooks into the small space. Calum rested his back on the locker besides me and watched my every move.
"Why did you want to talk to me?" I asked out of curiosity as I held my books for first period in my hands.
"Because, I know what it's like to be new, and I don't want you to go through the trouble of finding friends." he explained, with a sincere smile. I couldn't help but smile back.
"Wanna meet my other friend, Michael?" he asked as I nodded, and followed behind him.
He lead me into the study hall, and there was a boy with black and white hair sitting at a desk with his phone in hand.
"Hey Mike, this is Sully. Sully, this is Michael." Calum stammered as Michael looked up from his phone and smiled. He stood and gave me a friendly hug. He smelled like cologne and mint, and I just wanted to sniff all over him.
"Hey." he smirked as I laughed lightly. "Hi."
We could hear the bell ring from the room, and we each groaned in unison. Noticing our simultaneous action, we all laughed and walked back to the homeroom together. It was crowded and the loud chatter made my ears sting. Since my sister was two years older than me, I wouldn't see her in any of my classes.
"Who are you looking for?" Michael asked as he grabbed my forearm and pulled me aside, and out of the stampede of students. I mentally thanked him for saving me, but at the same time, I sorta wanted to be crushed and put out of my misery.
"My sister, but she's a senior." I wailed as he chuckled.
"You would've had no hope in finding her." he scoffed, as I realized he was absolutely right. I looked around in attempt to locate Calum, but he was nowhere to be seen. "Where did Calum go?"
"He went to maths class, and I think we should be going there too." he remarked, pushing through the crowd once again, holding me close so I wouldn't get lost yet another time. We suddenly stopped and I heard Michael groan.
"Watch where you're going, alright." someone scolded.
I peeked from behind Michael's shoulder and there was a tall boy with piercings and tattoos in front of him. He caught my eyes on him and he smiled cockily, winking in the process. Michael looked back at me, then back to the boy.
"Luke, I swear." Michael warned and he just laughed, soon walking off with two other guys following behind. Michael tugged me into a small classroom, and took his seat in the back, a disgusted look set on his face. I aimlessly stood in the front of the class, and the teacher smiled at me.
"Oh hello, you must be Sullivan Colette." he welcomed as I nodded my head awkwardly.
"Alright, you can take a seat wherever and if you can't catch up on the lesson, it's fine."
I immediately ran over to Calum and sat in the desk behind him, happy to be where he was. He turned back to me and smiled, causing the butterflies in my stomach to go crazy. The lesson started, and I just pretended I was lost to get out of the work.

"Having fun so far?" Calum asked as we both walked to our lockers, Michael going his separate way. I nodded my head and jammed my textbook in the locker, as the small space was already crowded with books and notes.
"It's about to get even better, because lunch." Calum sang, as we both giggled and walked downstairs to the cafeteria. I paid $10 for my lunch and was happy with the results- a sand which, cookies, and soda.
"So, who do you live with?" he asked.
"Dad." I grumbled with a mouth full of food. He nodded and continued to eat, looking off into the distance.
My eyes wandered around, and they landed on a specific person. He was staring right back at me, his eyes hitting me like daggers. Calum turned around and noticed, soon pulling me back.
"Don't talk to him okay." he fretted, as I was left in confusion of why everyone wanted us to stay away from each other. "Why?"
"Because I said so, okay." Calum yelled, causing everyone to turn our direction. He sighed and put his bag around his shoulders, getting up from the table and walking away. He left me sitting alone.
