That one empty desk... No one sat in it or even dared to touch it because...
"A jinn sits there!" said Hana Abadi to Alma Anderson on the first day of school.
Of course, this was just a rumor going around... Or was it?
None of the teachers or staff believed the rumor, let alone even knew what a jinn is.
Alma shrugged her shoulders and sat down in the desk. She was taught to not associate with Muslims because they're "bad". That's when it all started.
One joke turned out to be a serious issue. After that day, everyone would run away from Alma, calling her a jinn. After that, things got worse. Everyone picked on her for having parents who are islamophobic. This was an every day thing until she decided to commit suicide. During an exam, she jumped out of the window and fell to her death from the fourth floor of Los Angles High School.
