"There are some nice employees here." Ziyad said. "You know, it's nice to not be discriminated for once."
I didn't reply. I couldn't stop thinking about what happened today.
I looked at a table that was diagonal to ours. A girl was sitting there by herself and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was the Muslim girl from earlier!
She winked at me and that's when the waitress came back with our drinks.
"Okay... You had the water..." She handed me a cold glass of water. "And you, handsome boy, had the coke." She winked at Ziyad as she handed him his beverage.
The whole time, I was trying to see the Muslim girl, but the waitress was in the way.
"Now, what would you two like to eat?" the waitress asked as she pulled out a notepad and a pen.
"I'll have the steak, well done, with fries and a side of mac n' cheese." Ziyad said with a smile.
I was still trying to see the girl.
"Zulaykha!" Ziyad called.
I snapped back into reality. Ziyad let out a chuckle.
"I'm sorry, waitress. This one has been out of it all day!" he explained.
"Uhhh... I'll have whatever he's having..." I said.
"Okay! It'll be ready in about twenty minutes!" the waitress said and with that, she left.
The Muslim girl was gone...
