Lie to Me

Prologue:

Hey guys! So this is my first story on wattpad.  I would appreciate some feedback. I'd really like to hear your opinion of this story.  (Good or bad...I'm not picky :P)  Anyway, hope you enjoy!

            Maya could hear the heavy footsteps, getting closer every second.  She could her own paws plowing through the fresh new layer of snow.  She was not too far from her goal now, she could see the train’s light making its way through the darkness.  There were not many nights Maya felt were worth living.  Sometimes it seemed the challenges her pack and herself faced were too much.  She wished it could all simply fade away.  In the scruff of her mouth, her youngest pup whimpered and shivered as the cool air whipped past her face.  This made Maya’s pace quicken.  If not to save her life, she must continue for her newborn’s sake.  She listened to the thudding of feet behind her grow louder.  Just then it’s strong claws sunk into her silver coat.  She yelps, pulse quickening and escapes his grasp.  Soft tears forming, a deep pain burns from her wound, demanding to be noticed.   The predator’s claws scratch her right hip, causing her to almost lose her balance.  The train is now passing them.  This was her chance. At the caboose of the train she saw a door wide open.  Without hesitation she tosses her pup into the train.  Her pup’s cries are only heard for a moment, they grow more faint as the train departs without her.  Now, the beast grabs her and tosses her against the nearest tree.  At last, Maya welcomes the warm blackness that yearned to cover her.  She watched as the beast makes its way toward her.  She smiles faintly at the knowledge that her small family has escaped the beast’s clutches.  Her eyesight blurs and she let everything fade away.
