Tossing your keys onto your desk and placing your umbrella by the door, you settled down in the swivel leather chair with your folders on the table.
You had decided to take the car that day, the main reason being was that you were planning to go shopping after work. Plus, the fact was it started raining which was the reason you had your umbrella with you. Normally, if it weren't for these reasons, you would walk to school, only being a twenty-minute walk. It gave you an excuse to get out of the house and gain some exercise while you were at it.
Honestly, you didn't mind walking in the mornings as the neighbourhood was quiet enough that you could hear your footsteps as you walked, something that was almost impossible during the race to get home.
Humming a small tune, you got up to head to the staffroom, in the mood for some coffee. The staffroom was a cosy place that the teachers could relax in. It was a place that everyone could relieve some stress in because of the friendly aura that was constantly present in the room. Of course, there were the few that despised the warm area and avoided it all together but you didn't mind it.
Leaving the staffroom with the nicely brewed drink in your hands, you took your time looking around at the cabinets full of trophies and certificates. The school was very proud of its accomplishments, having been around for a few years but still being known as one of the best schools in the country.
Returning to your desk, you slipped at the drink, warming you up in the chilly room. Booting up your computer, you heard the faint footsteps of someone walking in the hallway outside your office. Curious, you checked the time, not expecting anyone around this early in the morning.
The person knocked on the door and you called out in a steady voice, expecting this. "Come in."
The door squeaked as they opened it, closing it behind them before giving a very shallow bow to you. "Moring, [l. name]-sensei. Am I late?"
You blinked owlishly at the student, their out-of-school-uniform being drenched and dripping water onto your polished wooden floorboards. Trying to recall why any student would be here at this time, you hesitantly said the only person you really thought was going to be here. "Portgas-san...?"
"Ace." He grumbled, wiping some water from his face, the freckles standing out on his shiny skin.
"Ace-san? You...don't mind me calling you by your first name?" You slowly asked, grabbing a small hand towel from the cupboard by the window.
"We're not total strangers now so," he scratched the back of his head still using a monotone voice with you, trying to disregard the faint pink hue that coloured his cheeks.
You simply nodded holding out the towel towards him. He stared at it before looking at your petite figure. You were shorter than him, your height being equal to just below his chin. He wasn't sure why he always ended up near you or in the same room as you when no one else was really around, maybe because he constantly got detentions and you had a sharp eye of when he was about to do something stupid.
You sighed and placed the towel on the table. "You can borrow a school uniform if you want or you can dry your stuff in here. There's a fan in the cupboard if you want to use it, but it's up to you of what you do." You didn't bother waiting for a response and dragged the guest chair around the table, setting it beside your own large chair. Slumping back down into your seat, you gulped down your coffee, the now warm liquid disappearing in seconds. Sighing in content, you picked up a pen about to get back to your work.
