orientation: acorosexual (bad experiences with sex have alienated her from her allosexuality) / arovague (note: while it's possible elodie would've been asexual or somewhere on the aromantic spectrum all along, this largely stems from being abused.)

backstory:
most people have normal childhoods, or at least some semblance of one. her mother, zsófia, was kidnapped by the joker, who wanted an heir. zsófia was raped repeatedly until she conceived, and was kept in captivity for months, until she eventually gave birth. elodie was born then, named by zsófia in a last-ditch chance to have any semblance of a relationship with her daughter. luckily, the joker didn't mind the name, and kept it. he only kept zsófia alive long enough for her to get pregnant with a second child, a fall-back plan. but she got sick, had a miscarriage, and the joker killed her. elodie was only five months old.
she was raised in a toxic environment - the joker's henchmen had a new plaything, but if the joker caught them anywhere near his precious daughter, they'd be dead. if she made too much noise, the joker would shut her up. if she didn't sleep enough or slept too much, the joker would teach her a lesson. she was supposed to be perfect - the crown princess of crime, the daughter of the joker, his little girl.
she was eight the first time she shot a gun, eight the first time she actually killed someone. she didn't realize what she'd done for years, or how serious what she'd done was. it happened again, and again, and again. by age nine, she'd killed too many people... taken way too many lives.
she was nine when the abuse got worse. her father would come home, from a heist gone wrong or from escaping arkham, and he'd take his anger out on her. the bruises flowering across her arms, legs, stomach, neck... "signs," her father would say, "signs that i love you and only want you to be prepared for the real world."
he'd offer her as gifts to people he wanted an alliance with, then snatch her away before they got too close. she was his daughter, not theirs. his only. and they couldn't have her.
at thirteen, she ran away. she escaped to a school states away from new jersey, as far from gotham as she could get. bruce wayne paid for her high school, and later her college - he promised he'd protect her. and for a while, he did. bruce's son, damian, would stop by every so often. and for a while, she was as happy as she could be. she had her best friend, avalon, at her side. she had jordan, her sort of-boyfriend, who adored her even though she didn't know if she could love him back.
she's fine. that is, until the joker drags her back to gotham, kicking and screaming...

other details:
- after escaping from her father, she started attending therapy. largely for sexual, physical, and emotional/mental abuse, largely at the hands of her father.
- has plans to someday return to gotham, once she's ready, and take down her father and expose even more of the terrible things he's done. she also plans to find information on her biological mother.
- has a bit of an obsession with tarot cards. but hey, it's a much better coping mechanism than cutting herself, right?
- works at a fancy restaurant near her college. donates all the money she's earned to RAINN - the rape, abuse, and incest national network. she figures there's someone out there who needs the money way more than she does.
- has a very large love for romcoms.
- the reason she was able to get into such a nice college was via donations from bruce wayne. she's aware of the fact he's batman - he tracked her down and came to visit her a few months after she started attending high school. he paid for her to go to both high school and college, and also for her therapy appointments. sometimes, his son damian stops by to check up on her.
- at the moment, she's majoring in psychiatry and minoring in psychology. she wants to become a psychiatrist.
