If there was ever a silver lining to all of this, it was that she found out about Eric and Eve's affair before the proposal. She racked her brains trying to figure out what she could have done wrong that pushed Eric to cheat on her or when Eve and Eric started having an affair but realized that it was futile. What was important was that she found out about the truth sooner than later. She dodged a bullet, really. "Yeah that was me being positive about this." She whispered and chuckled through her tears.
She was mulling over these thoughts when she saw a tall muscular figure teetering past her and towards the water, holding a bottle of what seemed to be liquor in his hand. She watched him carefully and realized that he was the owner of the same pair of broad shoulders and strong arms that held her steady earlier this morning by the elevator.
Maine started to worry when he continued walking even after he reached the edge where the water met sand, walking even further even after the water already reached his shoulders that she stood up in alarm and quickly ran to the sea when she saw him suddenly disappear.
She waded into the water and despite the cold, she looked for him until she saw his arms flailing wildly, his head tilted back with his mouth open, gasping for air. With all her might, she briskly paddled her arms against the current to get to him, praying that she would reach him on time. When she did, she frantically grabbed one of his arms, flung it over her shoulders and struggled to swim them both back to shore.
She laid him down on the sand and tried to resuscitate him, pumping his chest repeatedly with her hands clasped together, praying she could still save him and wondering at the same time what this man had to go through and just throw away his life like that. She tilted his chin up and pinched his nose, sealing her mouth on his and blowing air back into his lungs, taking her three more tries until he was coughing water out his mouth and nose.
She breathed a sigh of relief seeing him alive. "Oh, thank God! Are you okay? Are you hurt?" She asked as she put her hands on either side of him for support. She was about to push up and stand when his hand suddenly cupped her face taking her by surprise that her elbows gave out and she fell flat on top of him.
"Yna?" He smiled weakly, his eyes glassy and unfocused, before pulling Maine by her nape with his free hand. He rolled them over so that she was underneath him before kissing her gently, nibbling at first, tracing the outline of his lips with butterfly kisses before firmly locking his lips on top of hers. Then passionately, he claimed her, as if his life depended on it, as if Maine was the source of air his lungs missed when he almost drown just minutes ago.
She groaned in protest, weakly hitting him with her fists but even in his drunken state, he was still too strong. Her protests seemed to have only encouraged him as one of his arms wrapped around her waist, firmly holding her in place. She kept her mouth closed and continued pummeling his chest until his other hand slid gently upwards until his thumb grazed the soft flesh under her breast. She parted her lips lightly in alarm, feeling the warmth of his hands and his lips spread like wildfire on her skin.
As she gasped, he took the opportunity to coax her mouth into submission, nibbling on her lower lip until Maine found herself responding to his kisses with as much fervor, with equal passion, the taste of his mouth a sweet heady mix of liquor, saltwater and him.
She surrendered. She has never felt this desired and loved before. Even by Eric. This man's lips were far too convincing than any lips she has ever tasted, she knew fighting him was futile.

They got lost in the music of their lips melding into one, their moans, the sounds of waves crashing into the sea, the trail of heat their hands left as they tentatively roamed on each other's skin, his hand cupping her jaw while her arms flung around his nape and played with his hair. He kissed her deeply; making sure Yna wouldn't forget him, letting her know how much he wanted her back.
RJ marveled at the sweetness of her kiss and the intoxicating scent of her skin as he nipped and sucked on her soft luscious lips, smiling as he heard her moans grow louder, as if trying to rival the sound of the evening breeze blowing past them.
Then his eyes flew open, suddenly sober, realizing that he has been kissing a stranger, her scent and sounds completely different from what his senses were accustomed to.
"You're... not... Yna..." He whispered, pushing himself up to gaze at her, seeing tears slid down the side of her face. Even under the faint glow of the moonlight, in her state of disarray, she looked breathtakingly beautiful. But no matter how high his heart almost jumped out of his chest when she was kissing her, she still wasn't Yna.
"I-I'm sorry." He said, his voice laden with guilt. He rolled onto his back and covered his face with his arm, his body trembling as he cried in grief. For a moment, he thought Yna came back and everything else that happened hours ago was a nightmare. No, this is his reality now and he couldn't change that anymore. He realized that taking his own life wouldn't bring him back to the time before everything came crushing down. He may never know how he deserved a second life because of this woman but he was somehow thankful that she saved him.
Dazed with a renewed sense of hope, he took a few deep breaths to calm his racing heartbeat, gathering enough courage, before lifting his arm up. He wanted to thank her and apologize for kissing her but she was already gone when he opened his eyes.
He shivered.
Once again, another woman left him all alone.
