We aren't afraid of the dark because we can't see anything, we're afraid of it because we see nothing. We're afraid of it because we can't see the things that lurk in it. Just take a picture; You're in a place full of people and suddenly there is a blackout... full on darkness.
You hear the sound of blade slashing through air and flesh as a blood curdling scream fills the air. Your heart starts racing as your eyes dart side to side. You can't see a thing and that makes matters even worse. You don't know where to run to or to hide so you're just frozen in place.
More screams fill the air as more people die. The metallic smell of blood fills your nasal cavity making you sweat more than a sinner in church. The screams start getting closer to you and you can almost sense that it's your turn but then they start getting further from you. You let out a sigh of relief that it's not your turn yet and the killer is toying with your mind but then you remember that you will die anyway.
It's silent for a while and you can sense the tension in the air. Your stomach lurches as a long shriek cuts through the air. Your stomach does a back flip all thanks to your fear. The darkness, the darkness is making matters worse. It's making you imagine things, bad nasty and horrifying things.
You finally realise it's your turn when you feel the cold blade slash through the back of your neck giving you a chance to use your last breath to give out your final and last scream.
