Five months had passed since I last saw him & the rest of pentatonix. They had grown so much as a group, but their friendship seemed more forced. At the start of the channel, they all loved each other without question, now it seemed as though the relationships were there purely because of the camera in front of them.
Out of the 5, Avi seemed the most distant, which was concerning as I cared for him a lot. I was still obsessed with them as an A Capella group, but not as insanely.
As much as they had changed, I had changed more. I was currently working as a full time make-up artist, which had been my aspiration for as long as I can remember. There was just something amazing about transforming somebody into their 'better' self, something about bonding with people while concealing their anxieties and adding to their persona. Sure, travelling miles upon miles across the country for the jobs few and far between was tasking, but in my opinion, the experiences you have and people you meet overpower the inconvenience.
Other than my career advances, I'd moved to Cardiff, dyed my hair pastel blue and got a septum piercing. I had all but become a new person, yet I still felt as though something was missing. Part of me felt blank, untouched and abandoned.
My life seemed to fall into a drone of existence, a constant cycle of meaningless work. Without realising it, I had completely cut off all social aspects of my life and focussed solely on my occupation.
My manager, who took my wellbeing into great consideration, realised my life had probably become unbearably bland (well, as bland as being a makeup artist could get) and sent me to work in London for a big week of performances in the O2 (I don't know how being a makeup artist works don't diss). So, with much deliberation, my bags were packed, equipment loaded in my car, and I had set off to the O2 arena.
