I unlocked the door and walked in, Adam walked me home as I stepped aside to let him in slamming the front door shut with a bang. "Violet your cheek is double the size of the other, where's your ice?" he questioned as I pointed him in the direction of the kitchen. He came back and placed a bag of peas on my cheek, "that's some backhand your mom has" he said holding the bag. "Yeah well she's nasty when she's had a drink, that's why she doesn't drink that often" I explained. "Hmm well that's no excuse to slap you" he said. "Its fine, besides shouldn't you get back you have your concert tomorrow" I told him.
"Yeah but im not leaving without you" he answered, "What do you mean by that?" I questioned. "I want you to come with me, who knows what sort of state your mom will be in when she gets home. Thinking about it what about your sister?" he asked. "That's true and my sister, my mom would never hit her no matter how drunk she is, but I cant expect you to look after me" I said wincing slightly as he took the peas from my cheek. "Nonsense you're my daughter remember miss now go pack some stuff I'll leave your mom a note" he said. "Fine" I said smiling and heading upstairs.
I put some stuff in a bag and collected my outfit for tomorrow just in case, I turned off my bedroom light and headed back downstairs. "Ready?" he asked as he took my bag, "yeah but how are we getting to yours?" I questioned. "Well we need to go back to that pub" he said as I shut the front door. We headed to the car park as he unlocked his car, it was a blue convertible with white leather upholstery. "Wow what an awesome car!" I said as he smiled and put my bag in the boot.
"Thanks, get in" he said as I slid into the car, Adam climbed in and started the car. I watched as people started filing out as we sped up the road and in the direction of the upper-class area of San Diego. Adam pulled up outside some gates, he pressed a button as the slowly opened and he drove up the drive. He stopped the car and climbed out, I looked up at the house in front of me it looked massive.
"Come on then lets get inside" he said as he unlocked the front door and switched on the lights. Inside was beautiful, paintings and mirrors lined the walls. The marble staircase twisted in a spiral with big gold chandeliers and film star chairs. "Wow this place is amazing" I said staring round in awe. "Thanks now come on I'll show you to your room" he said heading up the stairs. I followed him as I ran my fingers over the smooth metal bannisters, he pushed open a door and turned on the light.
The room was red with black furry rugs and a massive bed with silk bed sheets on. There were red curtains and a dressing table, there was also and ensuite bathroom and a balcony. "Well her you are then, I'll leave you in peace just call if you need anything. Don't mind Tommys train like snoring or the smell of Ashley's overbearing perfume that hangs around the house you will get used to it" he said smiling and pulling the door shut.
I rummaged in my bag and headed to the bathroom, it was white with gold taps and fluffy white towels. I switched on the shower and hopped in, I washed my hair and body and climbed out. I wrapped a towel around myself and headed back into the room, after drying myself I slid into my pyjamas and sat on the edge of the bed. I sank into the mattress as I squealed at how soft it was, I walked onto the balcony and looked up at the stars shining in the black sky.
My mom would be home now, she would be wondering where I was. I put my hand to my cheek and sighed, I had promised my mom that I wouldn't leave her for Adam but it seemed I had no choice she was on a slow spiral to disaster. I heard a knock on the door, "come in" I said. "Here I thought you might fancy a hot chocolate, what's wrong" Adam asked, "what am I doing my family is falling apart and my mom is on the road to destruction. I don't know what to do" I said.
"Look the way I see it is you cant always be the one to keep your family together. That should be your moms job, she needs to sort it out herself. At the end of the day I know that you are safe, right now that's all that matters. Anyway im going to bed now, big concert tomorrow. Drink your drink and i'll see you in the morning" he said kissing my head. I watched him walk out and shut the door quietly, after I had drunk my chocolate I turned off the light and slid into bed. I sank into the pillows and fell asleep almost instantly.
