For the next few weeks, it was just Chloe and me. After school, she would come on back to my room and we'd work on our separate homework together. Mine was from my homeschool and hers was from my former school.

"Marinette, I know this probably is an offensive question, but I'm curious. Did you buy your pants from Target?" Chloe asked me.

"Yes, actually. There was a sale on capri pants in a variety of different colors. I asked my mom to grab the pink ones, so she bought like 30 of them," I giggled.

"Well at least they're cute! If I'm being honest, I was at that sale for my white capri pants too," Chloe spoke, giggling as well.

"Really? You couldn't even tell! You always wear the prettiest clothes!" I exclaimed, already looking to see that she had worn a bright yellow sundress with small blue flowers designed in it.

"Thanks! This is my mom's old dress from high school. She always said it was her favorite," Chloe smiled, looking down at it.

"Your mom? You never really talk about her," I spoke gently, not wanting to sound too intruding.

"Yeah. One day she just left. I never really knew what happened. She left all her belongings behind, but at least I have her memories," she sighed, smoothing down the material on the skirt of her dress.

"I'm sorry," I said, almost in a whisper.

"Nah, don't worry about it. That's always why Ladybug was my idol and still is. You're the only female role model I had. Seeing as you've protected us so many times from evil, you've saved me, you were the closest thing I had to a mother figure," Chloe smiled softly.

My heart fell. That must've been why she was always so clingy to me. That must've been why she was akumatized when I blantantly ignored her and yelled at her. That's why I hurt her so much...
