(Older) Ame X Reader~ Come Visit Me Again

The forest is my safe heaven, I venture into the forest quite often hoping I'd be able to catch a glimpse of the blue and white wolf again. I'd seen him once, a beautiful blue and white wolfing trotting through the forest with a scarf wrapped around his neck. That was about ten years ago, there's something that tells me he's no ordinary wolf. What wild wolf wanders around a forest with a scarf around its neck? It's very strange, if you ask me.

Lately I'd been hearing stories that these two kids I used to go to school with could shift into wolves but that's the stuff out of fairy tails. I'd have to see it with my own eyes to believe it, I'm not sure if I would believe it even if I did see it.

The funny thing is that the boy whose been said to be able to shift into a wolf was my first crush, his name is Ame. I haven't seen him in years, he vanished and no one would give me a believable explanation to what happened. Not even his sister who I was friends with, she wouldn't tell me anything really. She'd just look away sadly and give me a vague answer like "he's safe but you probably won't ever see him again". I was heartbroken...still pretty much am to be honest. But, you move on with your life and so I did.

I got a fright when I heard leaves rustling, I almost fell off the tree log I've been sitting on. I spot a rabbit and smile, I got scared for no reason. It's so cute, a creamy colour that blends in with the dead fallen leaves. I could faintly hear footsteps running toward me and they were getting louder. I think I'm hearing things...it sounds like a galloping horse. The rabbits nose twitches and it takes off, I look over my shoulder to see where the noise is coming from. And, a blue and white wolf jumps over me and lands scattering leaves everywhere. I screamed out loud scared to death and I fall off the log onto my back. I scramble and manage to get on my hands and knees. The wolf turns his head towards me and snarls aggressively then stops and wines before taking off in the direction of the rabbit.

I get to my feet and run the opposite way that the wolf went, huffing and puffing as I went. I'm to unfit for this shit, I slowed down unable to run anymore and thought about collapsing for a dramatic effect. I stayed laying down looking up at the canopy, until my breath returned for normal. It's only than that a thought crosses my mind...it was a blue and white wolf...Ame. My eyes water, it was my only chance. Wait, that was a rumour. I should be happy that I even saw the wolf. But, what wolf snarls and than wines at you? It should've eaten me over that rabbit.

I stand up brushing the leaves off my knees and legs.
"(Y/N)...is that really you?" I freeze, who in the world would know my name in the middle of the forest? I slowly spin around, ready to bolt if need be. My eyes water even more with tears threatening to spill.
"Ame?" His clothes are 10 sizes to small and barley stay on his body because they are so torn and tattered. I feel myself getting angry "where did you go? Where have you been? You never said goodbye! Your sister wouldn't give me a proper answer to where you'd gone". Ame looks down, ashamed and I feel guilty instantly "I'm sorry" I blurt and look away. This isn't awkward at alllll.

"It's alright. I-I'm sorry, I couldn't tell you. Things got complicated and I had to leave"
"Are the rumours true than. You can shift into a wolf? That blue and white wolf is you, isn't it? You could have told me, I wouldn't of told anyone". I look back at Ame and he lifts his head to look me in the eyes
"yes...I'm a wolf, my dad was and my sister and I got those genes too. I wasn't meant to live like a human I'm suppose to be roaming the forest like I have been. I choose to leave"
"that's what you meant by "complicated""
"yes" he weakly smiles.

"I-I better head off" I start walking off but Ame grabs my wrist
"don't go yet...please" he sounds so vulnerable, like a child but he's not a child anymore. I look around
"I can't really go anyway, I-uhhh I'm kinda lost" Ame laughs
"I'm sorry I scared you, I was after the rabbit"
"all good". I tell him, Ame let's his hand slip away off my wrist and I turn and face him. He's so close, I go to touch his face and Ame closes his eyes but I stop myself before my hand touches his skin. I turn around embarrassed and Ame doesn't say anything to it. "I'll take you back to where you entered the forest, I'll follow your scent". That'd sound so creepy if he wasn't a wolf.

I walk beside him keeping the same pace and our bands brush a few times before Ame decides to intertwine our fingers and I blush. It was a small gesture one many people take for granted but I love it. He's still a little shy but a lot more braver than he was years ago. Ame stops and I can just see the road through the trees "thank you" I say to him and he nods, we let go of each other's hand and stand still in silence. I don't want to go, I can't let Ame be lonely in the forest.

"Stay here, I want to give you something" Ame says and runs off. I stay where I'm standing, what could he possibly want to give me? I don't know. It's another 10 minutes before Ame returns. "Sorry, I took so long"
"it's ok" I smile and he smiles back. I notice that he holding something behind his back with both hands. He walks closer to me and loosely wraps something soft around my neck and hugs me. I hug him back, closing my eyes and breathing his forest smell in.
We pull away and he kisses me on my forehead. I'm sure you could see my blush from Mars. I look at what he wrapped around my neck a blue scarf
"it's your scarf"
"the only thing I've kept nice and clean. I want you to have it" he blushes
"thank you, I love it. I better head off" Ame smiles but it doesn't reach his eyes
"promise me, that you'll come visit me again"
"I promise".
