Where do we go when there's nowhere to hide?

The closer the eyes seemed to get, the lower the height difference was getting. At first, I had to actually strain my neck up a bit to keep the contact, but now they seemed to be at a more respectable level.

The more they got closer to me, the clearer the owner's features were becoming. I didn't make an attempt to step back or run away, of course. Maybe whoever it was, meant no harm. You could never be sure.

Nevertheless, the features had started to become even more visible; thanks to the nearby streetlight. It sort of looked like the figure had shape-shifted or something, because at every step the figure took, the shadow it left behind didn't sit still. However, the moment the figure stepped out into the light, my breath caught in my throat. And why wouldn't it? After all, the person standing right in front of me was...

So incredibly sexy...

Straight, luscious raven hair, a perfect facial structure, incredibly lean-yet slender-body, and lastly...a pair of deep, hypnotizing eyes. A thing was lacking in them though. The very bright shade of red that I had seen before. For some reason, they had turned into an endless pit of black. I wasn't complaining though, of course. I had a feeling either would look amazing on him.

Entrapped in my state of admiring the stranger, I didn't notice him giving me an amused look. "When you're done with your inspection, I would like to discuss some friendly business with you.", he spoke, the amount of silk in his voice making my heart speed up.

Carefully tearing my eyes away from him, I looked down at my shoes; they appeared quite fascinating at the moment. "I wasn't inspecting. You just caught me off guard. It's not everyday you see a pair of demonic eyes walk towards you and then turn into a pretty stranger.", I replied, fiddling with my hoodie.

I had always been trash at keeping eye contacts. I would never be able to keep them for a long time, and would end up avoiding the person's face altogether. However, the other times I would manage to stare at the person so much, they would think of me as penetrating their soul. It varied, honestly.

A low rhythmic chuckle escaped him. That caused a small smile to appear at my lips. Another thing to know about me. I was rarely serious. I never knew how to keep a straight or blank face at certain situations. I would always either end up smiling, or laughing. Trust me when I say that has put me in a lot of trouble.

"Taking that as a compliment, let's move on to the situation at hand.", he started, running his slender fingers through his smooth hair. "Any reason why a girl like you is moving around this late at night? Alone, at that."

Before I could answer his question, I narrowed my eyes at him. Focusing on a completely different wording. "Hold up, what exactly do you mean by 'a girl like you'?", I questioned, crossing my arms. I don't know why, but the way he said it made it sound like an insult.
