Serena's POV
"Hello Serena." A too familiar voice said.
I about choked on my water.
"Barbara?! How? How did you get a phone?!" I asked frantically.
Barbara giggled.
"It wasn't that hard, just have to know the right people. How are you?" She asked.
"I'm fine... how are you?" I asked.
"I'm okay, but could be better. This place is a dump and the food here sucks." Barbara complained.
"Well it is like a hospital..." I pointed out.
"More like a prison." Barbara said bitterly.
"Well, that too." I said.
I could sense Barbara was glaring.
"What are they making you do there?" I asked.
"Oh you know, just sit in a circle and discuss our issues. Pretty boring if you ask me." She replied.
"Yeah, I guess." I said, not knowing what to say.
"Anyways, it's pretty lonely up here. I'm literally one of the only civilized girls here, and it's pretty annoying. I wish I had someone to talk to." Barbara rambled on.
"Yeah, that sucks." I replied, slightly confused.
Why was she telling me this?
"You know, I just thought of something! You should come up and visit me Serena!" Barbara exclaimed.
Oh, that's why she was telling me that.
"You know I'd love to Barbara, but Uncle would never let me come over there." I pointed out.
Barbara was silent.
"Maybe he doesn't have to know." She said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"When Jim is at work, don't tell him where you are going. Lie and say you are at home or something. Then come up and visit me." Barbara explained.
"I don't know..." I said, kind of worried.
I could get into a lot of trouble because of this.
"Please Serena. If you do exactly what I say, you won't get caught. Please Serena." Barbara pleaded, sounding as if she was on the verge of tears.
Something told me she was just faking it though. She probably was. But Barbara had been like a mother to me, and I wouldn't say no to her.
"Fine. I'll see you tomorrow Barbara." I said finally."Yay! Then you can tell me more about your rich boyfriend." Barbara said quickly.
"Wait what? We aren't-" I started.
Why did she have to mention Bruce.
I heard her giggle and then she hanged up.
Oh great, what did I get myself into?
