After second period was finally over, it was only actually forty-five minutes long, I texted my mom:
Hi mom I am so sorry, but I have 2 skip lunch 2day because i met a new student and i am helping her w/ not being alone.
Sorry luv u.
I hope she is cool with that but as of right now I need to focus on getting to science on time. Science is almost--no wait it is the most boring subject in the whole world. If there was one class I could get rid of, it would be this class. But today when I walk in, my day gets 10 times better because, you guessed it, Emma is in my class. Where the teacher placed her isn't the best spot, but I will be able to manage.
"Oh my God! Kaeden. You have this class? I am so happy to see a familiar face. Oh and have you met India she is so funny," She says this and she sounds so happy I want to tell her that India is a real snobby bully but I don't want to ruin our friendship. So instead I just say:
"Yeah Mr. Lee is a super fun teacher," she rolls her eyes but stays quiet so I add, "And I haven't really talked to India much so I wouldn't know that she was funny."
"Oh well she is great you should meet her some time. She can make anyone laugh believe me."
"Oh I bet. Well we better sit down, Mr. Lee doesn't give any excuses. If you ain't sitting then you ain't present." With that she laughs and then we sit down.
"Oh look. You all showed up. I am so happy I have to teach again." His voice is so monotone that I think I might fall asleep every day he starts class; but he has a single rule, and that is, if we fall asleep. He will dump water on our heads. Even if it gets him fired. "Today we will be talking about what the elements are...." I never listen and so I just tune out and stare at the back of Emma's head until the beautiful bell rings announcing our release from torture.
"Wow that was super interesting. I loved the part where he explained how the praying mantis mate. It was super exhilarating--"
"Wait. You actually payed attention?! But how? He is so monotone" I cut her off and I could tell she was a little put off by this.
"Well excuse me but I find his voice relaxing and easy to listen to. I am sorry that sounded rude."
"No no no it's totally cool. We all get those days. So don't stress about it." I am desperately hoping it doesn't sound like I am offended.
"Alright. Well I have to get to math, which is going to last a lifetime. I hate math so much. My God don't even get me started--"She started going on a rant about how math has always been her least favorite subject but I don't think she realizes how stinking cute she looks when she balls up her hands into fists and shakes them while making the quirkiest face ever with a sound that is inexpiable. She is just so cute.
"Oh my god I just totally ranted and now we are late to our classes. I am so sorry, I am just going to leave now. I hope this isn't going to ruin your reputation although it will ruin mine and everything is going to be horrible- my mom is going to kill me- my grades are gonna drop-"
"Hey hey hey Emma calm down. Being late on your first day is nothing to be afraid of okay?" I look her in the eyes. Her eyes are so beautiful. They are not just one color but they are dark brown on the outside, then a mixture of yellow and orange for the rest of the eye.
"Okay okay."She takes deep breaths, "I am calm. Now which way to the math hallway?"
I nod my head to the right and say down that hallway. Now don't get too worked up about one tardy. Kay?"
"Alright. Thanks a million Kaeden. I owe you. For everything." She says that with a smile and walks down the hallway to math. I think I am never going to get over her. She is just so sweet, but her being friends with India? Emma is going to be either heart broken or become a snobby cheerleader with no manners. There is no in between. And God how I hope it is heart broken so that I can help her through it.
History has always been a some-what interesting class, it also probably helps that I have had good teachers as well; but for some reason this class just seems to last forever because I just want to see her again. She probably thinks I am psychotic because I never leave her alone but she is just so approachable and ugh. I need help; I have become so attached to a girl that I barely even know. What if she is a mass murderer and that is why she moved here? No that is crazy. I am sure she is a completely normal girl who's family just needed a new start. Nothing crazy like my mind wants to depict.
"Kaeden? Did you hear me?" Mr. Jones says this sternly with no kindness in his voice."You were late to my class and now you can't even pay attention in class. Did you finally get a life? A girlfriend maybe? Just put whatever you're thinking about in the back of your mind until this class is over. Just pay attention for forty five minutes. That's all I ask." He shakes his head. I can tell he is very disappointed in me. "Now as I was saying the Union faced secessionists in eleven southern states..." And I'm gone again, I can't focus.
"It Ain't Me" by Selena Gomez is playing which is indicating that it is lunch time. Finally I have waited long to finally get an hour to just talk and joke around with my friends. Wait did mom text back? I get out my phone just to check and sure enough she did:
NO WAY KAEDEN! WE PLANNED THIS TWO WEEKS AGO AND IT GOT PUSHED BACK TO TODAY AND I AM NOT GOING TO PUSH IT BACK ANY FURTHER. YOU WILL BE OUT IN THE PARKING LOT BY 11:30 OR YOU WILL BE GROUNDED. WITHOUT LOVE, MOM
Oh my goodness. I am screwed; but I just can't make Emma sit alone.
"Sorry mom I will have to be grounded just this once because I actually care about someone besides myself." Sent
"Hey! Kaeden wait up!" And here she comes America's Next top Model. "Can I hang with you at lunch?"
I want to say absolutely but i don't want to sound too enthusiastic, so instead I just say," yeah sure. I mean if you want to hang out with me, Sammy, and Gar."
"Um of course. You guys are the only people I know, well besides Gar. And i want to hang i=with you guys. There is just so much less drama with guys. It is calming you know?"
"Um well no I don't know but its all cool. Just come follow me."
"Okie dokie"
"Lemon Chokie. Oh um whoops did that just come out of my mouth?" How did I just say that?! I feel like a complete idiot.
"Haha that was adorable." I just ignore that...compliment and we continue walking to the cafeteria. Everything is going well and I almost think that this day is going to be a great day with no problems; but I am wrong because my name gets announced.
" Kaeden Wilder. Please come to the front office your mother is here to pick you up for a date."
"Oh is that your last name?" She says this almost as though she is surprised. "I like it, but I guess you had better go."
"Let me at least walk you to the table and introduce you so that you don't have to be alone. Okay?" I really don't want to leave her there alone but I cannot risk her hanging out with India.
"Oh okay. You sure your mom won't get mad?"
"Nah. I mean she already is mad so I might as well do what I can to make you feel comfortable."
"Well thank you, Kaeden. Making a new friend who cares about my well being is nice. No one has ever cared about me this much." Wow is she serious? My friends have always cared, whether they joke about it or not, but I know they still care.
"Well," I say, " I am glad to be of service. We are here. Hey Gar. Sammy. This is Emma, she is new here and I said she could hang with us but I have gotta blast so be nice to her okay?"
"Yeah I mean I guess if you want to hang with us without Kaeden." Gar says snobbily to Emma.
"Yes I would love to hang with you guys. Thanks Kaeden. Have fun with your mom. Byee"
"Bye Emma. Sammy. Gar." And with that I leave, and get into the car with my crabby ass mother.
