As I walk up to the table Sammy yells, " Yo Kaeden get your ass over here fast. I have big news." I walk over as fast as normally possible and I say, "What's up that you couldn't wait like two minutes to tell me?"
"So big news we were just sitting kinda awkwardly with Emma cause you know cute girls and us guys do not mix." I nod along because I have no clue where he is going with this. "And out of the blue Gar says 'Hey so I need a date to prom. Do you know any cute guys Emma?' It was the most absurd thing ever." With that comment he rolls his head back laughing.
"Wait so you are telling me that Gar is gay?" This makes a little bit of sense but him? Out of all of us? Crazy.
"Nah bro I am just joking with you. He asked Emma to prom." What?! How could Gar do this to me? I wanted to ask her ugh this ruins everything.
"You okay man?" Shit, I was making faces wasn't I. "Yeah. Yeah I am good. What did Emma say to Gar?"
"Oh she politely said no because she wanted to go with someone else, that she might know a little better. Or just not go at all."
"Wow." I am so happy she said no. "So wait. Where did they go then?"
"Oh just to the vending machine to get some chips. Emma is loaded, like you will never have to worry about going hungry around her." Sammy says this almost in awe which is weird because he never looks like that; but Emma being rich? That is crazy.
"Alright. So why aren't they back yet? The vending machine is just around the corner, it shouldn't take them this long."
"Dude calm your tits. Emma said she had to go to the bathroom as well. Are you worried that she likes Gar more than you?" This hits me like a truck. I didn't think me liking Emma was that obvious but I guess it is
"No I'm not worried. She can like whoever she wants. She isn't reserved to just like me." This is crazy. How could anyone like Gar anyways? He's so nerdy about dungeons and dragons that it doesn't make sense. He is just psychotic.
"Oh hi Kaeden. Back already?" There is Gar now. Popping up out of the blue like usual
"Yeah I made mom mad which led her to bring me home sooner than usual." I want to act casual but I don't know how to so I just say, "So what kind of chips did you get?"
"Chips? Is that what Sammy told you?" Gar and Emma both look at Sammy confused. "What?!" Sammy says, "I didn't think I should be the one to tell him so I lied hehe." This is a normal thing for Sammy to do. He never likes to be the bearer of bad news.
They all just get silent like they don't want to tell me something important so I pipe up and say,"So? What happened that no one wants to tell me about?"
"Well," Emma says sheepishly, "My grandma called me during lunch to inform me that I have a cousin that goes here." She stops right there and it worries me. It had better not be me or I will cry. "So who is it?" I can't take the stress. I need to know.
"It me." Gar says.
