The dark night gave me black eyes,
But I use them to seek the light.By : Gu Cheng (1956-1953)
Original language : Chinese
Well, since we already have two posts with long poems (they aren't ode though), let's appreciate this, perhaps the most influential two-lined poem ever.
It was written during the dark era of Cultural Revolution to represent the struggling youth searching for knowledge and future.
Simple speaking, just imagine thousands of young hot blooded people chanting this two-lined verse like a mantra!
This poem was once seen again in Hong Kong's Umbrella Movement in 2014.
Note 1 : This post is only for literature appreciation and I wish for no political offence. Thanks.
Have fun.
