A new Buddy

Fionnas PoV

It's been a couple weeks since school started up and I've been dealing with a cold... ok it's more like my extreme weakness to changing seasons. I've been dealing with headaches and fatigue and random sneezing since winter decided to leave and spring wanted to show up.

Right now I'm laying in bed, sipping cocoa while watching TV because my headache was terrible this morning.
I checked the times and noticed school just let out which meant Marshal would be over to come and check on me.

After a couple minutes I heard the door unlock and open, feet shuffling in. the door closed and foot steps made there way to my room. the door opened and there stood Marshal. he has on a plain grey tshirt with ripped skinny jeans and his usual converses.

He walked over and sat next to me on my bed. he kissed my head and I leaned my head against his chest. we sat in a comfortable silence while watching a movie.

"How ya feeling Fi?" He asked, looking down at me. I waved my hand in a 'so-so' type of way and shrugged. I didn't wanna talk because earlier I sounded like a frog choking on a fly. I stood up on my bed and stretched before hopping down. I went to the bathroom and did my stuff and when I came out I stood in my doorway.

"Everything all right babe?" Marshal asked, looking over at me. "yea my headache is gone" I said. or so I thought, nothing came out. "what?" "I'm fine" I tried again, still nothing.

"What's wrong with your voice?" "I have no idea!" I mouthed, basically panicking right now. "calm down Fi it's all right" Marshal said walking over to me. "your not the one without a voice!" I mouthed. "I know I know just calm down. its probably because your sick" Marshal explained, holding my shoulders.

"Since when could you read lips?" I mouthed. "I have a nephew who is mute. he only really mouths to me so I learned. I also know sign language" Marshal said proudly.

I giggled erm attempted to giggle and brought my hand up. "so how old is your nephew?" I signed. "he's about 9 now" he signed back. "can I meet him?" "uh sure. but he's kinda not in the best condition" "what's wrong?" "he's in the hospital. he has pneumonia and its kinda bad" "oh. that's terrible" I signed.

I walked to my closet and quickly changed into a pair of capris, a blue tshirt and my vans. I tied my hair up and walked to my front door, marshal in tow. "come on let's go visit him" I signed with a smile.

We arrived at the hospital and marshal did all the necessary things that will let us see his nephew.

We walked to his room and Marshal slowly opened the door. inside was a little boy sitting on the hospital bed. he has light brown hair and green eyes, wearing a hospital gown and was kinda pale.

We walked over and Marshal smiled. he looked up a little surprised. "hey buddy. long time no see" Marshal signed. turns out his name is actually buddy. it said it on his name plate on the door. "I want you to meet someone. this is my girlfriend Fionna" Marshal signed then gestured to me.

I walked over and smiled. I waved and he waved back. "Hi buddy. it's nice to meet you" I signed. "what's wrong with you?" he asked, puzzled. I let out a silent laugh. "I'm sick and I lost my voice. would it be alright if I sat next to you?" I asked. he nodded and scooted over.

I smiled and sat down. "are you really uncle Marshys girlfriend?" He signed. I smiled and nodded. "yup, been together for awhile now" I signed. "how long have you been in here?" I asked. he shrugged. "I don't know. I lost count" "oh. well I brought you something" I sighed, pulling a wrapped gift out from my bag.

Buddy smiled and quickly tore it open. inside was a new action figure. he smiled and quickly opened it. "thanks. why'd you get me this?" He signed. "you remind me of the little kids at the orphanage" I signed with a sad smile. "you were an orphan?" he asked. I nodded. "Till I was 9" I signed.

Marshal walked over and placed his hand on mine. I looked up and smiled. I looked back and Buddy and he smiled at me. "you make uncle Marshy very happy" he signed. I smiled and nodded. "that's what I've been told" "she wanted to come see you today. she thought you could use a friend" Marshal said, wrapping his arms around me.

Buddy crawled over to me and sat in my lap. I giggled and wrapped my arms around him. "thanks for coming to see me. your really nice" he signed. I kissed the top on his head smiled. "its no problem. I know what it's like to be by myself and I figured you would enjoy the company" "will you visit me again?" "of course honey" I signed.

I looked up and Marshal and he smiled. I leaned up and have him a kiss and I heard Buddy attempt to laugh. "eww cooties!" he signed, jumping away. I laughed and pulled him back, kissing all over his face. he protested with a smile and attempted to push me away.

We spent all the time we could with buddy and left when the nurse said visiting hours were up. I hugged buddy and we made out way out.

"He really likes you" Marshal said with a smile. "he's a really sweet boy" I signed. "Yea I know. he's a tough one" Marshal said, opening the door for me. I climbed in and he entered the drivers side.

"Lets visit him again next week" I sighed, buckling up. "that's fine with me" Marshal said, starting the car. We sat in a comfortable silence as we made our way back to my apartment.
