"Table 10 would like the ham and egg special along with a side of Hotcakes" The waitresses husky voice croaked out to the sweaty chef while he nodded and cleared his throat making way in his kitchen for the new orders.

Glancing at the clock the middle-aged woman sighed and wiped her brow "Where in the heavens is this child Frank, she should've been here by now" The diner was getting crowded; unusual on a soft Tuesday morning and completely unexpected. Nevertheless, they tried their best to provide excellent service to the starving costumers.

"Ah give ha' a break Mary, the gal probably asleep or somethin' ." He flipped a nice golden and circular pancake in the air, smiling as it made a nice hiss as it hit the stove-top. He knew this was just another late day for the girl, she always slept late and loved to forget that she had a job in the mornings.

"Well she better a 'hurry up because my patience is wearing thin Frank, this the last time ya hear?" she waved a long manicured finger at the Chef as she served the seated costumers at the counter coffee, she surveyed the small diner with a small satisfied grin. She went to grab a small chocolate muffin for a young gentleman just as the door opened; its small bell ringing alerting everyone that someone new has joined their evening of hunger.

Stepping inside her eyes went wide and alert, quickly going behind the counter and wrapping her apron around her body. "Fuck Mary I overslept sorry"

She winced as the older woman tsked at her language and popped her hip to the side and put her hands on them. "You always say that and I'm having a hard time letting you off easy girl" she sat down a small rag and rubbed her brow.

"I Promise it's the last time" smiling sweetly she grabbed her notepad and pen. Mary nodded and waved her away, knowing very well that she can't hold a grudge against the young woman.

"Hi Frank!" she waved quickly to the chef as he nodded in return and smiled.

Taking herself to the floor she went to the nearest table and put on her best face. "Hello welcome to the Bloody Mary, my name is Kady and I'll be your waitress today is there anything you would like to start off with?" she has the mantra memorized to the point it's become haunting. The small family of three smiled and looked at their menus, still indecisive on what to eat. She internally rolled her eyes, it's such a simple menu people. The father cleared his throat and sat down his menu "yes I'll take the simple hash and eggs along with a cup of coffee." The woman agreed and proceeded to give the child's menu.

Taking the menus back she could feel that the day was going to be dreadfully long and exhausting. Oh, how she would give anything to be back in bed.   She groaned as she gave Frank the ticket.

too bad life said, suck it up.

Groaning she sat on a small stool resting her sore feet as the end of the afternoon is ending with a surprising rush. Rubbing her calves, she sighed heavily and pulled out her phone. Checking her messages before Mary comes in there with a stern scowl she hurriedly pulls up her messages.

Heyy K, are we still on for drinks? Xx

She smiled and replied

Hell yea
