June pov
I wiped my sweaty palms on my honey colored dress. Today was the day kids were going to die.

My eyes were bloodshot from crying. Not for my life but the others, My brother Oliver. We're twins and I couldn't bare the thought of losing him or leaving our younger sister phoebe alone. I paced around my room in my knee high blue socks, the aged wood creaked under my weight.

I finally sat down to brush my hair. I decided to braid white ribbons in it. I headed to the kitchen. There was a heavy silence. My father was making eggs from our chicken, May.

He looked like he had been crying all night. His brother had died in the woods that day.

I sat down at the table slowly. Oliver came and sat next to me.

He looked nice for once and not dirty, his hair was brushed and he wore nice cloths or well nicer cloths than usual.
"How are you doing?" Oli whispered.
I just shook my head.

We ate slowly not wanting to leave.
Some kids were excited to do this to finally get there powers. But we weren't, mostly because the powerless run in are family like uncle Copper and are older sister, Willow, who died in the finale two days of the woods.

We were only 4 so we don't remember her that much but we have a ton of her pictures.
She had the same curly black hair and gold-green eyes as my mom and me.

Oli had wavy dark hair like my father and phoebe. We already had our plan of survival, we were going to stick together and help as many people as we could.

Most people get hints of their powers.
I knew Oli was going to be fine but I never showed anything. My father looked at me with sadness with a hint of pity. My mother killed herself when willow was killed.

We had our neighbor watch Phoebe while dad took us to the town center.

We stood outside and heard the speakers announcing that the kids who do not attend will be sentenced to public hanging and those who assist.

I shivered.

I walked ahead and caught up with Finn, who was Oli's and my friend since birth. His mom and my mom were friends.
I  blush whenever we talk ,but this was not the time to think about that. We walked in peaceful silence.
"Are you scared,?" Fin asked with a look of concern on his face.

"how could you not," I laughed a little.
"I might die today or anytime this week," I shrugged.

"Thats not a good way to think, just think this week we will get our powers," he smirked.
" This is so messed up, they send children to die, if they aren't perfect," I whispered.

     "Don't worry you'll live."
I laughed.

"So on a better note what power do you want Fin?"

"Umm let me think, oh I want the  power to fly!"

     "That's boring," I smiled,
feeling better.
He pushed me a little and laughed.
Oliver ran up next to Fin.
We saw the outputers directing kids into a sleek train.

Some children were crying and hugging parents and siblings. Others looked dead.

Kids waited for friends or siblings so they wouldn't be alone on the train.
"It's the train of dreams," I laughed, that's what everyone called it.

We went through a metal detector, and into the train. We were guided to a train car and all three of us sat down. I watched out the window as I saw my dad start crying.

The train made a beeping noise as it headed of into the early morning...
