Chpt 2

June pov

Finn, Oli, and me were sitting by each other. I stared out the window and watched the ocean pass by.
The seagulls flew carelessly and free.

We weren't allowed to bring anything on the train, so we had nothing to distract us but each other.
Most kids looked worried, the food cart came by ever few hours with meals.

The energy on the bus was thicc with tension.

Finn leaned over to Oli and whispered to him with a anxious expression. Oli just nodded and sighed.

"You should eat something June,"
Oli finally said.
I just looked out the window as we passed a gray watch tower.
I could hear Finn sigh
" Please" whispered Finn.

" When the cart comes by again," I concluded.

Finn and Oli looked at each other with worry.
" Isn't it beautiful, nature I mean,"
Oli observed,
"That's why you always stare at it, right June."

"Nothing is really beautiful, it's all just different" I confessed. "Sure you could believe someone is beautiful, but they're just different to you than anyone is and that's okay,"
" Nature is so different than humans,
See humans have made a big mess, one day humans will just stop, but nature grows and creates marvels, it's like art, complex yet simple." I was almost crying at this point.

The train came to a stop at what appeared to be a small building, no bigger or smaller than a small cottage.
Two men in gray suits entered the train.

They got us all in a single filled line and we headed out in terrified silence.
Every kid was now standing outside after 15 minutes, there was most likely around 1,000 or more kids.
We all know that almost a 1/2
of us would die in the following 7 days.
They start taking kids in by 15 at a time.
Oli, Finn, and I are all shoulder to shoulder. We finally are directed inside after 5 minutes, it seems to all go bye in a blur that lasts to long. The inside is like a spaceship. The kids who came in before us are no where to be seen.
They separate us by boys and girls.
I say bye to Oli and Finn sadly.

They move all the girls in my group, to a large ish room that's bright.
They hand us these tight blue and green uniforms with name tags on mine reads

I quickly put it on as did the others.
Once are group we're all done, our "captain" Alharca told us to line up.
He seemed to have a hard look on his face and one thicc scar running down his neck and shoulder disappearing into his captains uniform.

     He opened a large metal door that reveled an elevator.
All of us got in as it quiet large with a dim light compared to the rest of the place.
    It lowers what seemed to be a few stories.
Nobody moved. The elevator opened with a ding to a large under ground warehouse, it was easily 10 times as large as the whole above ground building. In the middle was a stage with around a thousand seats around it.
I sat right next to Oliver and Finn.

  A few minutes pass

"Hello children," said a honeyed voice.
