I woke up to an alarm. It wasn't my alarm. I opened my eyes and saw Quentin reaching around for his phone which was buzzing. Zach was gone. The blinds were open and light still seeped through. Now my sleep schedule is messed up. I can blame that one not being able to sleep the night before because my mom had sold my bed and other furniture since I'm never home to use it.

"Its on the end of your bed." I say forcing myself to get up.

Grabbing my stuff off the ground I hear him mumble "thanks".

"Is everything ok?" I ask remembering Zach and his conversation.

"Uh yeah. I'm headed to the gym"

"I'll come too" I offer in a better mood due to my sleep

"Uh um sure." You could tell he didn't want me to not go but he wasn't sure how it would go over with Zach.

What I don't understand is why Zach wont let me spend time with Quentin. He honestly seems like a good guy. He has changed a lot since last year as did a few of us.

"Meet me in the lobby in ten" I say as I open the door to leave

I check my dying phone with 15% left. 29 texts. 13 missed calls. 5:30 pm. Without looking at the messages i lock my phone and by that time I am at the elevator. When I get off the elevator I realize the silence. Everybody is probably sat the dining hall. Thinking of that made me think about what I ate today, nothing. It doesn't bother me since I am not even hungry in the first place. I would probably go to dining hall after the gym when I don't have to see anyone.

I get to my room and put on my pink nike sports bra and a pair of gym shorts. I throw on a jersey from when I played lacrosse last spring. It took me a good 5 minutes to find my gym shoes and with the hair tie around my wrist, I head for the lobby. I take the stairs thinking it's appropriate for the occasion and right as I get to the lobby Quentin gets out of the elevator. I quickly put my hair up in a really messy ponytail. Quentin smiles when he sees me but it turns into a straight face.

"Stop doing that" I say heading to the door walking in rhythm with Quentin

"Doing what?" He asked but already knew the answer

"Acting like I make you mad"

"I'm sorry. I really don't mean to its just that I don't want school to start. I guess I'm like this to everyone" he said his excuse with hesitation

The gym is two buildings to the right of Building A. Everything here is conveniently located and everything on campus is only for students or staff. Luckily no staff are working right now except the counselors because school hasn't officially started. The counselors are all around the freshman dorm and in their offices expecting some lost freshman to come to them.

We walked with small conversation.

"Shit. I forgot we need a student id to get in." Quentin says

"I have mine. I came here twice a day everyday last year. Planning on doing the same this year." I say proud

"Same here"

I swiped my id in the key card reader and the light turns green and the door unlocks. We are the only ones in the gym except a group of seniors who seemed familiar. I minded my business and walked to the machines. The gym was sectioned off to stations. Abs. Cardio. Yoga. Express. Weights. I always found myself going straight for the ab workouts.

Quentin got really excited and rushed to the group of seniors and gave high fives and knuckle punches. He suddenly got really confident and super talkative. This immediate change made me think of what he had just said to me on the walk over 'I really don't mean to its just that I don't want school to start. I guess I'm like this to everyone.' It made me mad. I was mad at Zach. I wanted no drama and now he wont let people talk to me. Whatever.
