When Tom and I get home after my soccer tryouts, we race into the house. We practically startle the pants off of Sabrina.
"What's got you two in such a good mood?" she asked with a slight chuckle.
"Roni, here, is the new captain of the girls Varsity soccer team at school!" Tom practically shouts at the top of his lungs. I blush at his excitement.
"Congrats! This is definitely the occasion for a fancy dinner at Standford's Restaurant and Bar. How does that sound?"Sabrina asks as I glance at the clock. My eyes widen.
"Oh my gosh! The interview is in twenty-three minutes! Sabrina, I would love to, but we have to get to this interview on time or we could be totally screwed for this mission and Charles would not be too happy about that. Is there anyway we could do it afterwards? The interview should only be thirty minutes tops," I said, barely taking a breath between each sentence.
"Yeah, no problem!Hurry up and go. I'll Meet you there? I Already took care of my interview earlier today."
"You bet," I said with a wink and headed to my room to change into a nice pair of jeans and a deep blue v-neck tee. I basically run back down the stairs, put on a pair of black vans, then headed out the front door and into the passenger seat of Tom's car.
"Crap, I left my purse inside," I said, but he continued to pull out of the driveway. I look at him like he's stupid before he points to the back seat. Now I'm the one who looks stupid.
"I was a step ahead. I knew you were probably going to forget it so I took the liberty of grabbing it for you," He says with a wink.
"Thanks. Even though you insulted me while doing me a favor," I say and he chuckles. I turned on the radio and my favorite song comes on. It's 'Shape of You' by Ed Sheeran. I sing along to it. A couple other songs played from the radio, but then one song came on and I flipped. This song was basically the song I went to when a guy hurt me. It's called Do Re Mi by Blackbear. He's definitely my celebrity crush. I basically scream out the lyrics. By the time the song is over, Tom has pulled into the parking lot of the hotel. We are seven minutes early.
We get out of the car. I grab my purse from the back and we headed on into the hotel. I follow Tom up to the front desk.
"We are here for an interview. My name is Tom and this is Veronica. We are seven minutes early so we can wait if he is busy, but we have places to go and things to do," Tom told the short, pudgy man. The man looked him up and down then went into a door that was behind him. Tom and I exchange glances, but then a tall, muscular guy comes out and motions for us to come back into the room with him. We follow.
"My name is Josh Terrance, but you can call me Josh because it's too formal for my taste when someone calls me Mr. Terrance. You guys don't even need to interview. You will be pretending to go through paper work. If anyone asks you questions, you need to know how to answer them," he says and hands us little booklets. "All the answers will be in here. They are answers based on this hotel only. If they ask you a question, you best know the answer. If you don't, you can tell them you are a new employee and don't know everything yet. Then, you will have to redirect them to another desk assistant. You guys will get paid $13.50 an hour and you can pretty much choose when you stop by. We aren't paying you because we want to. We are paying you because you guys are helping keep the residence of this hotel safe. So, that's all I have for you. Any questions?"
"Nope. Everything is very clear. If I come across something that I feel needs questioning, I will find you," I responded.
"Ditto," Tom said and with that we shook hands with Josh and headed back to the car. We drive to Standford's Restaurant and Bar and get ourselves a table. Since the meeting only took fifteen minutes, I send a text to Sabrina telling her that we are at the restaurant. A few minutes later she texts back saying she's on her way.
I see Sabrina walk in and waved to her about 10 minutes after she texted. She made her way to our table and took a seat. We order our food and talk about tryouts and how I got my nickname. We also talked about the mission and how excited I am to finally get my first assignment. I knew I always wanted this job. I just didn't imagine getting it this way.
After dinner, we split the bill in three. Well, almost. Tom refused to let me pay for my own meal. Eventually, I gave in and let him pay for my meal. Normally, I would pay for my meal because it is the right thing to do but he was trying to be sweet. I've only ever had my mom pay for my things. I never let anyone else pay for my meals, clothes, or anything. I didn't even ask for presents from my friends. I told them not to worry about it or bring any presents. Speaking of birthdays...
"I just remembered. My birthday is tomorrow," I say and shrug.
"We are definitely throwing you a huge sweet seventeen party," Tom says.
"I don't think it works that way Tom, but don't do anything too big," I say with a giggle. When we all get back home, Tom and I head up to my room. We turn the tv on because it's only 8:30. We continue watching criminal minds trying to finish up the last three seasons that I had left after before I moved here. Even though I haven't watched them yet, I can always tell who the killer is and it annoys me when they still can't figure it out. Cuddling with Tom, I fall asleep.
