Chapter Six: The Enemy Of My Enemy
song: green river•creedence clearwater revivalSkull Island - South side
11:12am • 1973They had been following the river for what felt like an hour. It hadn't been, it had been 12 minutes - Dawson had been counting - but the sheer size of the island was beginning to waver Dawson's conception of time.
It had been a while since she had gone hiking through terrain like that of Skull Island, and it didn't help that her back was still throbbing from being dropped onto hard steel while still slightly unconscious. Yet, that hadn't been her first helicopter crash. It had been her second, and it hadn't been the worse either.
"Captain Dawson, can you hear me!?"
Johnathan the medic roared, shaking his captain as she sat limp, her head hanging on her shoulder and eyes tightly closed. Her skin was beginning to pale and Johnathan figured that there was too much blood coming out of her head for her to be totally okay. His second in command on the mission - James Conrad - was also unconscious, but he was wearing a helmet so his head hadn't taken any blunt force. Also, Johnathan preferred Dawson, so he was going to save her first.
"Dawson!" Johnathan screamed, hearing shooting from behind him. Their helicopter had been shot down out of the sky. Someone had fûcked up and told the crew that the island was inhabited, but it wasn't - a Vietnamese crew had been stationed there. They weren't very happy about the intrusion.
They weren't a very large crew, but still, Dawson's men hadn't been prepared for a fight , and it didn't help that their two leaders were unconscious - one of them fading fast.
Johnathan looked at the helicopter screen and saw it had been pierced with bullet holes, his eyes found Conrad and he registered that there was a hole through his shoulder.Seeing that Conrad's chest was moving up and down, Johnathan checked his pulse, and, realizing that it was stronger than Dawson's, he decided to focus his attention on her. Yet Conrad woke up without being nudged. Sucking in a loud breath as if he was coming out of water, he panicked, grabbed his shoulder and looked around. He saw Johnathan's terror filled eyes.
Then, his eyes found Dawson. "Where are we?" Conrad asked, unbuckling his seat belt. He pulled off the helmet - he had been piloting the helicopter - and there was a little gash under his hairline, but it was nothing compared with the large slash on Dawson's forehead. "East side of the Island sir, this island is inhabited"
"Well that can't be true, otherwise we wouldn't be here" Conrad tried to get up from his seat, but then he felt the burning sensation in his shoulder. "I'm afraid it is sir, only a small group but they have weapons"
