I decided that I'd show you what Chapter 1 would look like once I finish rewriting this fanfiction. I wrote this a few months ago but I wanted to upload it today to see if you can see any improvement from this chapter and from the original chapter 1.

The words blurred past my face, sentences turning to fragments in my mind, quotes becoming meaningless as I forget who they match up to, plot lines converged and twisted in my mind, no longer making any sense like they once had. I continuously tried to focus but my mind was a whirring mess. Emotions were conflicted and I couldn't figure out what I was feeling but that was to be expected. I had just received the chance of a life time.

A few days previous to this, A knock had announced the arrival of a stranger who would soon become some what of a role model to me. Not that I knew that at the time. It was eleven o'clock in the morning when there was a knock on the door and from that moment, my life had changed. My mum had opened the door to a tall wisp of a man, with long white hair and an even longer beard to match. His beard was tucked into his belt which pulled his whole outfit of ruby red robes with gold moons embroidered on them together. He wasn't an irregular sight in our house, after all, my father worked for the Ministry for Magic and odd house guests were to be expected, even at all hours of the night.

This stranger was unusual because he was the headmaster of the school I had never expected to be invited to; Hogwarts.

At first, I had thought that he had come to give me my rejection in person, to make it a more pleasant occasion than to receive it by owl. But we soon found out that wasn't the case when he joined me in a game of gob-stones, not a word leaving his lips that indicated that I had been accepted or rejected.

After three games, and several cups of tea, he started on the topic of Hogwarts. He had been silent for most of his visit, only speaking to exclaim that I had possibly cheated and no, that move was not fair at all, you aren't going by the rules, so when his tune suddenly changed and his eyes sparkled as he talked about his passion for his school that he loved so dearly, my hopes began to soar at the possibility that being accepted was possible for once in my short life.

He had pulled a creased letter from an inside pocket of his robe and I pealed open the seal with shaking hands. A grin formed on my face and it only got wider and wider the more that I read. My mother and father noticed my expression and they jumped for joy as the impossible and unexpected had happened; I had been accepted to the school of my dreams!

Professor Dumbledore left soon after he had delivered my letter, leaving me nothing except the promise that he would see me on September First for my sorting.

Soon after, preparations began to go under way. I was taken to Diagon Alley to get measured for my robes which had to be specially tailored to fit my short and slim frame. I then had to get books, quills, parchment, potions ingredients and whatever else that would be needed for my first term.

On the letter, it read that I would have been allowed to bring a pet, such as an Owl, a Cat or a Toad. I bought an owl from Eyelops Owl Emporium, which was an odd shop altogether. I walked in the front door and was nearly knocked over by the powerful odour of just bird and I had to crane my neck to take in the full wonder of the shop. There were stacks upon stacks of cages, some with residents, others without. There was a cage beside the entrance to the shop that had a miniature playground for an owl inside of it.

What really caught my attention, was a small cage that would have gone noticed unless you had been paying very close attention the goings-on around you. At first, I thought it was empty but, as I shuffled towards the cage, I noticed that, huddled in one corner, was a little ball of fluff. I wasn't sure if it had once been food for one of the previous resident that hadn't yet been cleaned out, but, with lethargic movements, the little ball of fluff shuffled around so it was facing me and it opened it's large, amber eyes. Once I had stared into those eyes, I knew that that owl was the one for me. After a few minutes of begging and Celeana, are you sure that bird will be able to get off the ground, let alone carry a letter?, my parents soon gave in and we left the Owl Emporium sceptic but Happy that all of the preparations were nearly completed.
